Set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones, with its voluminous cast, follows several plots, three of which are considered major.

The first focuses on the iron throne of the seven kingdoms of Westeros and follows an intertwined network of alliances and rivalries of noble families (houses) fighting to ascend the throne or to secure their own independence from it.

The center of the second story focuses on the last descendant of a great dynasty, exiled (a refugee from murderers) in childhood who is now hiding and trying to return the throne to his dynasty.

The long-standing brotherhood entrusted with the defense of the throne against the ancient enemy and legendary creatures living far to the north and the coming winter that threatens all the inhabitants of both continents are the main backbone of the third story of the series.

Through “morally alienated” characters, the series deals with issues of hierarchy, religion, loyalty, corruption, civil war, crime, and punishment.
