Netflix has just dropped a new Danish crime thriller, and it’s already capturing attention around the world.

The Asset, originally titled Legenden in Denmark, premiered globally on October 27 and has quickly become one of the streamer’s most talked-about international releases.

The six-episode series follows Tea, a secret agent played by Clara Dessau, who infiltrates a dangerous criminal network under the guise of a jeweller. Her assignment is to get close to Ashley, the girlfriend of the gang’s ruthless leader, Miran. But as Tea dives deeper into this world of corruption and control, she starts to question where her true loyalty lies.

According to Netflix, The Asset dives into the thin line between good and evil. The platform described it as a story about “how far someone will go for what they believe is right, even when the difference between right and wrong becomes blurred.”

The series is directed by Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm, who told Netflix she wanted to focus on how people’s morals shift under pressure. “I was drawn to tell this story because it explores the complexities of identity and loyalty under extreme pressure,” she explained.

Fans seem to agree that The Asset stands out for its emotional storytelling and grounded characters. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show holds an impressive 83% rating, and social media is buzzing with praise. One viewer wrote that the show “was straight to the point without requiring brain span,” while another said, “The Asset got better with each episode and the finale perfectly set up a potential Season 2.”

Many fans also highlighted the performances, particularly Maria Cordsen’s portrayal of Ashley, calling it one of the strongest parts of the series. Others described the show as “well-paced and character-driven” and even predicted that a UK adaptation could happen in the future.

In just a few days, The Asset has proven that Danish storytelling is still among the best when it comes to intelligent, intense drama.
