‘One-Eyed Flashback’ Passes 10-Billion Mark in Less than 20 Days, On Course for New Franchise Record

Detective Conan films have recently been proper success stories, with the three most recent ones (including the current one) being record-breaking and record-setting hits in Japan, which is absolutely great news for the franchise as a whole.
We have already reported how the current, 28th movie, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, which is still playing in Japanese theaters, is doing absolutely great and how the movie has already broken several records set by its predecessor.
But that’s not the end of it! It has been officially confirmed that One-eyed Flashback has set yet another record and is on its way to becoming the franchise’s new record-holding movie!
One-eyed Flashback is currently the most successful film of 2025 in Japan, as we have reported. Previously, the movie set the opening-day franchise record with 1.05 billion yen (about US$7.4 million) earned and 690,000 tickets sold, and it earned 3,438,626,700 yen (about US$24.15 million) over the first weekend and sold 2,314,690 tickets, surpassing the previous record held by Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram.
The movie has continued to perform strongly at the box office and we can now confirm that the One-eyed Flashback surpassed the 10-billion yen mark in just 19 days, setting another franchise record!
On May 6, the movie officially earned 10.4 billion yen (about 72.66 million USD) on 7.26 million admissions and all of that in just 19 days, thus setting a new record for the movie series.
Not that its two predecessors also surpassed that same mark, but the number of days was different. Black Iron Submarine earned 10.3 billion yen (72.02 million USD) in its first 24 days, while The Million-dollar Pentagram made 10.5 billion yen (73.39 million USD) in its first 22 days. With 19 days, One-eyed Flashback is now a new record holder.
All of this means that the 28th film is on track to become the franchise record-holder as the most successful Detective Conan anime film. The previous movie earned ¥15.80 billion ($100.51 million) in Japan, so this record is close to being broken, but the previous movie also had a strong international outing; it remains to be seen how this one will do outside of Japan, but it is, as we’ve said, on track to becoming the new record movie for the franchise.
