One Piece: Here’s How Many Fights Zoro Lost After Mihawk!
Zoro is known as one of One Piece’s best swordsmen, and after his epic defeat to Mihawk on the Baratie, he has given himself and Luffy a vow to never really lose a fight again. And while he technically hasn’t, as each of his losses can be rationalized in one way or another, Zoro was overpowered on more than one occasion, even after losing to Mihawk, so we’ll tell you what happened and how many times it happened in the story.
After losing to Mihawk, Zoro has been defeated roughly ten times in battle (single or as part of a group) by opponents and under various circumstances. Fans of Zoro are quick to discard all of these losses due to various reasons, but it is a fact that the swordsman has been defeated in all of these instances. Still, these defeats never had the gravity of his defeat to Mihawk, so we can still consider that Zoro has not broken his promise to Luffy and to himself.
The rest of this article will be about Zoro’s sword-fighting history in the series, as we will focus on his battles and what happened there. Zoro has been in a series of battles after his loss to Mihawk, and his opponents have overpowered him on more than one occasion. However, fans of the character still don’t consider these situations as proper losses, which we will address in this article. You will learn about all these controversial moments and get an explanation for each. The article will contain spoilers, so be careful how you approach it.

As you can see, there are more than 100 battles in which Zoro has participated in the series. Some of these were individual duels, some as part of various groups. The ones we’ve bolded are the ones considered controversial by the fans.
In all of these fights, Zoro definitely did not win. But, he did not really fight in all of them, at least not properly (for example, he was captured or ambushed in some of them, so it wasn’t really a proper fight to begin with), so fans are quick to discard them. The only four battles Zoro was unable to fight were those against Arlong, Enel, Kizaru, and Kuma.
Now, Zoro’s fans are quick to discard these ones as well, as they weren’t proper duels or they weren’t fights against swordsmen, but it is a fact that Zoro was defeated in these situations. However, you want to label it in the end. Zoro has lost roughly ten times in the series after his loss to Mihawk (it is difficult to properly list all of his losses since not all of them are even officially listed – for example, the time the Yeti Brothers captured him is not listed as an official fight, although Zoro did “lose” there).
Fans of the character will tell you that he never lost, while those with a more objective insight will tell you that the number is around ten. Of course, these “losses” never had the same gravity as his loss to Mihawk, so we can actually say that Zoro has kept his promise so far, but we cannot deny that he was defeated and overpowered, as we have told you above.
