Quantum Leap: A Sequel Series Is In Development At NBC
Older generations probably remember Quantum Leap, the famous sci-fi series that originally aired on NBC between 1989 and 1993. And the newer generations, well, probably heard of it when Paul Rudd mentioned it in Avengers: Endgame.
Now, almost 30 years after the original series concluded, NBC is planning to make a sequel series and they’ve already greenlit the pilot episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter. You can check the description of the pilot episode below:
“It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.”
Created by Donald P. Bellisario, the original series starred Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell. The released synopsis is teasing that Bakula might return for the sequel series, although that wasn’t confirmed yet. Creator of the original Bellisario will serve as the executive producer on the sequel, while Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt will serve as the sequel’s showrunners.

Since the pilot was ordered now, it’s expected that pilot will be filmed during next spring and before summer we should get official news on will the sequel series be picked up.
