Reportedly in Development at DC: Movie Centered on One of the Most Prominent Superhero Teams
It’s been a while since Gunn and Safran took over what used to be called DCEU and changed it to DCU. More than a year ago, they shared their plans for ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters.’ In January 2023, the DC movie universe was described as getting a big change, but not a complete reboot, with plans for a story that will last for many years.
James Gunn and Peter Safran talked about the first projects of this new plan on January 31. They said who the writers were working on the big story: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson (who wrote ‘The Flash’), Christal Henry, and comic book writer Tom King. The idea was to split the stories into parts, with the first one being ‘Gods and Monsters.’ This part had five movies: ‘Superman’ (2025), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing.’
There were also five TV series: ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Waller,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold.’ They wanted to mix famous DC characters like Batman and Superman with ones people didn’t know as much. If a project didn’t fit into this shared world idea, it would be called “DC Elseworlds.” They got ideas from things like Star Wars and Game of Thrones, wanting to have different places and characters interconnected through an overarching storyline.
According to recent rumors, particularly from well-known leaker and scooper Daniel Richtman, there’s talk of a movie in the works focusing on the Teen Titans.
It’s not clear if the movie will be animated or live-action, but either way, the Teen Titans, being one of DC’s most famous teams, have seen many adaptations. A live-action series about the team just finished its fourth and final season on HBO Max.
We don’t know what the story will be or who might be in the cast yet, but it seems like Gunn wants to include lots of well-known characters. What are your thoughts? Share in the comments!
