Reports Reveal the Original Concept of the ‘Blade’ Movie Before It Was Simplified to “Blade Just Killing Vampires”

The new ‘Blade’ reboot is definitely one of the most exciting MCU projects for several reasons. Many fans are thrilled that the famous vampire slayer from the comics is returning to the big screen.

The original ‘Blade’ trilogy was so successful that it saved Marvel from bankruptcy at one point. Many people believe that this movie paved the way for the rest of the MCU.

When Mahershala Ali proposed rebooting ‘Blade’ to the studio, he probably didn’t realize how tough it would be. The movie was initially set for a 2023 release, but due to Ali’s dissatisfaction with the script, the release date was pushed to 2025 (so far). The project underwent several rewrites.

A few months ago, Michael Green was brought in for rewrites, with the aim of keeping the “R” rating at all costs, as Demange stated several months ago.

The latest rumors reveal what the movie was supposed to be like before the recent round of corrections. It was a period piece involving Lilith with an army of vampires, wielding the Ebony Blade.

Now it seems that the movie is reduced to Blade just killing vampires, as the shooting is finally ready to start in Mexico.

I’m honestly okay with this. I’m fine with Blade just being Blade and a relatively simple plot. There’s no need to introduce other characters, Midnight Sons, or deal with the Ebony Blade lore in Blade’s debut MCU movie. It’s not like Marvel Studios is taking care of their other characters introduced during Phase 4; they are notably ignoring most progress made since ‘Endgame.’

These rumors align with something that we’ve heard from Kit Harington. Allegedly, Black Knight was supposed to appear in the movie, but he revealed in his recent interview that there are no such plans, at least none that he is aware of.
