Rosamund Pike has finally shared how she feels about the cancellation of The Wheel of Time, and she didn’t hold back. After weeks of silence, the actress who played Moiraine Sedai on the Prime Video show posted a short message on Instagram.

It was only up for 24 hours, but it left a big impression. She said she felt a mix of “anguish and rage” over the decision to end the series, showing how much the show meant to her.

Maybe I felt the end was coming and wanted to channel in anguish and rage at the sky,”

This comes not long after showrunner Rafe Judkins also talked about the show’s end. In a statement, he spoke out against how streaming services are changing the way they handle TV shows.

He said the focus now seems to be on quick results, like gaining new subscribers fast, rather than letting shows grow and build an audience over time. “Much has been written about this larger trend in TV toward fewer seasons with less episodes and finding quicker ways to acquire additional streaming subscribers. But I genuinely believe that this goes against the fundamental strength of television – long-form storytelling,” he said.

The show had a huge story to tell, one that stretched over many characters and complex events. But the show made some big changes to the books. For example, the original story focused mostly on Rand al’Thor, Mat Cauthon, and Perrin Aybara. In the TV version, a lot of the story was shifted to focus on Pike’s character, Moiraine Damodred.

By the time Season 3 ended, Moiraine was supposed to have met her fate, according to the books. But in the show, she survives a major showdown with the character Lanfear, leaving fans wondering what would have happened next if there had been a Season 4.

There’s still one small hope left for the franchise. A previously announced animated prequel is still in development.
