Superhero sequels rarely get to coast on goodwill alone, especially four years after their predecessor closed out one of the most beloved trilogies in the genre’s history. Following up ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ meant Marvel and Sony had a lot riding on Tom Holland’s return to the mask.

That pressure hasn’t slowed the film down one bit. Since its release, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been quietly rewriting box office records across multiple markets, and its momentum shows no sign of stopping weeks into its theatrical run.

A new poster released for the film’s continued run spotlights Holland’s Peter Parker in his signature red-and-blue suit, marked with an “In Cinemas Now” banner and listed across six languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. That linguistic spread is no accident, and it points directly to where the film has been performing best.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has become the highest-grossing Hollywood film ever released in India, a milestone few international titles manage to reach. The English-language version led ticket sales with strong occupancy across nearly 8,000 shows, while the Hindi-dubbed edition posted an extraordinary occupancy rate across roughly 7,000 shows of its own.

Regional dubs in Tamil and Telugu added further momentum across key southern circuits, helping the film cross six million ticket sales through BookMyShow during its opening weekend alone. By its nineteenth day in theaters, the film’s India gross had already climbed past ₹560 crore, putting it in rare company for any Hollywood release in the country.

India isn’t the only place the film has been setting records. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ recently crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide, making it the first film in the entire Spider-Man franchise to reach that threshold.

That milestone places the movie in an especially exclusive tier of superhero blockbusters, and it comes at a moment when the character’s global appeal appears stronger than ever. With strong turnout in both English-speaking markets and heavily dubbed regional releases like this one, the film has managed to connect with audiences well beyond its traditional base.

The sequel picks up four years after the world-altering ending of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ with Holland’s Peter Parker living entirely on his own in a New York City that no longer remembers his identity. He continues fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man, even as the city around him has moved on without him.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film reunites Holland with Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jacob Batalon, alongside new additions including Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando. The film marks Holland’s fourth outing as the web-slinger and stands as the thirty-eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Releasing a fresh poster weeks into a theatrical run isn’t unusual for a film this size, but doing so across six languages underscores just how far ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has traveled since its debut. For a franchise built around a hero who feels forgotten by his own city, the film’s reception across such a wide range of markets tells a very different story.

With numbers still climbing in India and worldwide, Marvel and Sony have plenty of reason to keep the marketing push going even this deep into the film’s run. Whether the film can keep adding to its record-setting totals in the weeks ahead remains to be seen, but for now, Spider-Man’s newest chapter is proving to be one of his biggest yet.

What do you think about Spider-Man: Brand New Day becoming the first Spider-Man movie to cross $2 billion worldwide?
