15 Strongest Female Characters in Demon Slayer (Ranked)

It is very interesting to dive into the wonderful demon-infested world of Demon Slayer. The anime and manga phenomenon marked the evolution of modern-day manga and anime, becoming one of the biggest fads around the world.

Here is a list of the 15 strongest female Demon Slayer characters that have appeared in the manga (and/or anime). The characters will be taken from different narrative arcs.

The list is going to be ranked from 15th to 1st place, with the 15th being the weakest character on this list, and the 1st one being the strongest.

15. Hinariro, Muka, and Suma

Tengen Uzui’s three wives have no superhuman abilities whatsoever. However, having grown up as a kunoichi, the three of them have some form of shinobi ability. They are, all three of them, able to wield a kunai and perform maneuvers and fights much more skillfully than normal humans. This makes them dangerous even though they don’t have any specific superpowers and abilities.

14. Makomo

While not much is known about her prowess as a Demon Slayer candidate, Makomo was deemed strong enough to earn Sakonji’s permission to enter Final Selection. She underwent his training and was able to survive until encountering a powerful morphed Demon, who, although he claimed Makomo didn’t have much power, commended her agility since she was able to evade most of his attacks.

Makomo possessed an advanced understanding of the Water Breathing techniques from Urokodaki’s training and was able to teach Tanjiro how to apply all ten of its forms: First Form: Water Surface Slash; Second Form: Water Wheel; Third Form: Flowing Dance; Fourth Form: Striking Tide; Fifth Form: Blessed Rain after the Drought; Sixth Form: Whirlpool; Seventh Form: Drop Ripple Thrust; Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin; Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow, Turbulent; Tenth Form: Constant Flux.

13. Aoi Kanazaki

After being trained by Shinobu Kocho, Aoi is able to come up with most of the simple remedies. Aoi uses Water Breathing as her primary style. Although she has not shown her fighting abilities, she is strong enough to defeat ordinary demons. She holds the rank of “Mizunoto” in the Demon Slayers Corps.

Aoi used the Water Breathing style during the Final Selection. Despite surviving the Final Selection, she believed it was nothing short of pure luck and decided to stop training with the Water Breathing style and instead helped other Demon Slayers at Butterfly Estate.

12. Spider Demon (Daughter)

The Spider Demon’s Daughter had enough skill to change shape to change her appearance to match Rui’s. However, if she is frightened, her physical appearance returns to its original form, indicating that she needs to make a conscious effort to maintain her new physical characteristics.

11. Spider Demon (Mother)

The Mother Spider Demon has demonstrated advanced shape-shifting abilities, having managed to alter her skin color, hair length and color, facial structure, demon markings, eye color, and physical features to match Rui’s own physical features, and maintaining these changes over an extended period of time.

However, probably due to her young age as a demon, she would sometimes accidentally revert to her true form – much to Rui’s annoyance, who punished her severely as a result.

The Mother Spider Demon can create small white spiders with red dots that resemble the physical features of her and her “family”, and command them to secretly attach their threads to victims unnoticed. These spiders also have similar characteristics to demons, as they will burn if stabbed/slashed by a Nichirin sword.

10. Susumaru

Susamaru has incredible physical strength. She combines her demonic blood techniques with Yahaba’s arrows. Therefore, her demonic balls can move in different directions, stopping on level ground and pushing off the air. Together, they were able to destroy Tamayo’s hideout and blow off Yushiro’s head.

The Hiasobi Temari technique allows her to call temari balls at her will. She can throw or hit them with such intense speed and force that she can completely destroy demonic limbs with a single touch of the ball.

9. Kanae Kocho

Kanae’s powers are completely unknown, however, she was able to become a Hashira by overcoming one of the two necessary conditions, eliminating fifty Demons or eliminating one of the Twelve Demon Moons.

The condition that she fulfilled is unknown, but it is implied that she was very skilled with the sword since unlike her sister, she could cut the heads of the Demons since she had the necessary strength and stature for it.

However, Shinobu was able to compensate for that by creating a fighting style based on stabbing and introducing poisons made from the Wisteria flower to compensate for her lack of physical strength thanks to a Nichirin Sword designed for that purpose.

The most coherent test of her abilities is demonstrated in the fact that she faced the superior Demon Moon number two, Doma despite being defeated, she was able to resist a fight against this Demon until dawn.

8. Tamayo

Tamayo has demonstrated impressive skills in medicine and pharmacy. She has the ability to alter her own body to survive with only a small amount of human blood. She was also able to turn the terminally ill Yushiro into a demon without Muzan’s blood, and was later able to reverse the process when treating the person they encountered in the Asakusa arc.

To once again show off her pharmaceutical skills, Tamayo was also able to help Shinobu imbue his body with the deadly poison of Wisteria without it causing the slightest bit of sickness in her; a tactic she would effectively use against Upper Moon 2, Douma.

7. Mukago

After all the other Low Moons had gathered in the Infinity Castle, Muzan appeared before them in his female form. He looked at them in irritation and told them to lower their heads and cower before him.

Mukago then regretted that she had been ordered to do so, for she did not recognize Muzan when he angrily asked her why she was speaking without permission and told her to shut up unless she was asked a question directly.

Muzan, lying fearfully at his feet, proceeded to explain the death of Rui, the only Nether Moon not among those gathered before him, and asked the other demons why they were so weak.

He instructed them that their stay among the ranks of the Twelve Moons of Demons was not the end, but only the beginning of things to come, and that their only purpose was to consume blood so that they might be useful to him.

Muzan said that it had been hundreds of years since the Upper Moons had been replaced, but the Lower Moons were constantly being replaced and Kamanue thought that Muzan could not just tell them about it.

Being able to read the minds of those he shared blood with, Muzan angrily asked Kamanue why they were not told, reached out a tentacle, grabbed the Lower Moon by the neck and lifted it into the air.

Kamanue tried to apologize but was quickly eaten by Muzan, while Mukago and the other Lower Moons kept their heads lowered in shocked silence.

6. Nezuko

When Nezuko was turned into a demon, she displayed the ability to shrink herself at will, such as fitting into a small box or basket to hide from the sunlight when she was with Tanjiro during the day.

She can also enlarge into a larger form when fighting other devils. Nezuko can ignite her blood and turn it into flames. She can decide how deadly her blood is, and she can also heal the wounds it causes to others if necessary.

However, these flames only work against other devil arts like Rui’s threads. Nezuko’s flames can also turn Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade from black to red, just as Yoriichi Tsugikuni turned his blade from black to red before the battle, adding to his blade’s effectiveness against devils. In addition, Tanjiro can perform the Fire God’s Dance even more effectively.

5. Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri has a special muscle mass whose density is eight times that of a normal human. At the same time, her limbs are quite thin, but they have unmatched strength. She is resilient, so she can withstand the attacks of the demons of the Higher Moons. To keep fit, Mitsuri eats the same food as three sumo wrestlers.

Kanroji’s sword is very thin and flexible. Due to the difficulty of wielding this sword, only she can use it. Thanks to the flexibility of her blade, the softness of her muscles, and the agility of her joints, she has incredibly fast techniques. According to the author, her techniques are faster than those of the Sound Hashira.

In her battle against the Upper Moon 4, she was able to outperform his normal attacks, forcing the High Moon to use the Art of Demon Blood. After awakening the Demon Slayer Mark, her speed increases even more.

However, she is not as fast as some of her Hashira counterparts, as was shown in the battle against Muzan, where she struggled to keep up with the others, having to rely on luck and dodging instincts. This was not to be crowned with success, as the young lady was hit by several attacks that knocked her completely out of the fight.

4. Shinobu Kocho

Despite being the only Hashira that cannot decapitate a demon, her attacks are powerful and deadly as she sealed Doma, the Upper Moon 2, onto the wall with one blow. Insect Breathing is an offshoot of Flower Breathing, which itself is an offshoot of Water Breathing. Using it, she coats her weapon with wisteria poison, which is lethal to demons.

As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu is one of the most powerful and skilled swordswomen in the entire organization. Her fighting style is incredibly unique, but just as effective as traditional swordplay styles. Shinobu’s swordplay specializes in sword thrusts and penetration techniques to inject demons with poison.

Her sword thrusts are so fast and powerful that they can pierce through boulders and are faster than Water Breathing’s drop wave thrust form, the fastest thrusting technique of this breathing style. However, the structure of her sword makes it ineffective for blocking attacks, so she makes up for this with her quick slashes and thrusts.

Her skills as a swordswoman allowed her to face Doma, the Upper Rank Two, who has lived and fought for over a century, further highlighting her brilliant sword skills.

3. Kanao Tsuyuri

Kanao has extremely keen eyesight and is able to accurately predict her opponent’s next attacks and movements simply by observing the subtle shifts of his muscles, joints, and the sclera of their eyes. This allows her to perform effective counterattacks and evasive maneuvers. The Upper Moon 2, Doma, adds to this ability, noting that Kanao can be more skilled than Shinobu thanks to this ability.

Kanao has complete control over her physical functions. During the fight with Doma, she manages to completely shut off her breathing to avoid the cold mist Doma creates. This allows her to engage in hand-to-hand combat against him without destroying her lungs. Kanao uses the flower breath. She was most likely taught this breathing by Kanae Kocho, who also used it.

2. Nakime Otokawa

Although Nakime’s Demon Blood Art was not as martial as the other Upper Moons, her ability was just as strong, if not stronger than her comrades in terms of utility and strength, for she alone could control and manipulate an entire fortress at will as if it were her limbs. Nakime has the ability to manipulate and control a seemingly endless interdimensional fortress while playing Biwa.

She is able to guide anyone to a fortress and create entrances and exits wherever she wants, and by attaching and rooting her hair to a wall near the fortress, she can control the position of the fortress at will, moving and changing the position of the various walls at will.

Later, when she reached the rank of Upper Moon 4 and presumably received more blood from Muzan, she demonstrated a new ability to create and sever multiple eyeballs from her body, allowing her to spy on others from a great distance.

With this new ability, she was able to locate almost all members of the Demon Slayer Corps throughout Japan, as well as the hidden mansion of Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who did his best to hide his whereabouts even from high-ranking members of the Demon Slayer Corps.

1. Daki

Daki is considered a powerful demon that Muzan personally recognized as a “special demon”. She was able to overpower Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira – all talented fighters – and maintain an advantage.

She maintained her original claims as one of the Supreme Moons of the Twelve Moon Demons. However, she owes her rank and position among the moons only to her brother’s powers and abilities, which augment her own.
