The Batman, Matt Reeves DC movie, and a reboot of the Batman franchise, became one of the most known and most praised movies of the year so far. Starring Robert Pattinson in a titular role, and Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, The Batman was a huge success for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. The movie received praise for its dark tone, performances, cinematography, story, action sequences, and Reeves’ direction, although the movie’s runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes drew some criticism. The movie grossed $759.3 million worldwide.

Before the movie was even released, there have been talks that a whole trilogy is already planned, and Warner Bros. now confirmed that The Batman 2 is definitely happening, IGN has learned. Matt Reeves’s return as writer and director is confirmed, as well as Pattinson’s return as Batman and Kravitz’s as Selina Kyle, meaning that the power couple of the first movie will meet again after parting their ways at the end of the first movie.

The Batman was released on HBOMax on April 18, and since then it became the most-watched DC movie on the platform, beating The Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman 1984, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Two spin-off series, focusing on Colin Farrell’s Penguin and the Arkham Asylum of the Batverse, respectively, are also in development. There are a lot of talks about who could be the villain in the sequel, but nothing was confirmed yet. One thing we know for sure, Batinsson will return, and that’s enough to make us excited!
