The superhero series Gen V will not continue beyond its second season, according to reports about Prime Video’s lineup. The decision comes months after the show’s latest season wrapped, and it had already been expected by many following recent developments around the cast and the wider franchise.

Gen V was part of the same universe as The Boys, which is also nearing its end. The main series is set to conclude with its fifth season, marking a major shift for the overall storyline. Even though Gen V is ending, the larger franchise is still moving forward with new projects.

One of the upcoming titles is Vought Rising, which is planned for release in 2027. The shared universe format means characters and storylines often move between shows. Some of the Gen V characters have already appeared in the current season of The Boys, showing that their stories are not completely finished.

Executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg addressed the situation and confirmed that fans will see these characters again. They said, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”

The series originally gained strong attention when it launched and was quickly renewed for a second season. However, production faced serious challenges after the death of actor Chance Perdomo in 2024. His passing delayed filming and affected the direction of the show.

The second season featured a returning cast including Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Hamish Linklater. Around the same time, Germann secured a role in another streaming project, which also signaled changes for the series’ future.

Behind the scenes, Michele Fazekas served as showrunner, with a large team of executive producers including Seth Rogen and others involved in building the shared universe.

Although Gen V is ending, Prime Video is clearly continuing to expand the franchise with new series and crossover storytelling. The focus now shifts to how these characters will be used in upcoming projects.

Ending Gen V after two seasons feels early, especially since the show had built a strong connection with fans. Still, keeping the characters alive in other series could help the story feel more connected instead of completely cut off. What do you think about the cancellation? Should Gen V have continued, or is it better to move the story into other shows? Share your thoughts in the comments.
