‘The Boys’ trailer for season 4 dropped, and we’ve seen that Homelander is on the verge of tearing down democracy and creating a society where Supes reign supreme, something we’ve all seen during the final episodes of the ‘Gen V’ spinoff. The upcoming fourth season will also feature some new characters created purely for the show, and Sister Sage, played by Susan Hayward, will be one of them. Due to the first look at Sister Sage in the trailer, we decided to analyze what exactly we know about her and how strong she could be when compared to other characters.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Sister Sage is a character created specifically for the show, so we can’t exactly analyze the source material, the comics, to find out more about her.
  • Her powers are possibly associated with premonition, as her official description states, “She is already a thousand steps ahead of you.”
  • If her powers are premonition, this would put her in the bracket of the most powerful ‘The Boys’ characters.

Sister Sage is an original character created for the show

Unlike much of the main cast of ‘The Boys’, both when it comes to supes and when it comes regular humans, Sister Sage is not from the comics, meaning we know virtually nothing about her, except for what the showmakers revealed in tiny snippets.

Sister Sage was first introduced via Instagram post wearing her badass super suit. The official description said, “Meet Sage. She is already a thousand steps ahead of you.”

Her costume features an upside-down Eye of Providence, and this is honestly a great clue as to what her powers could be, as well as the fact that she narrates the trailer with some depressing and discouring speech related to democracy and people.

Now, the description alone without an eye and without the context of the trailer implies that Sister Sage has powers of Super Speed, just like A-Train, the most famous (and fastest) speedster in ‘The Boys’ universe. However, Super Speed is not the only “power” that allows you to be ahead of everyone else.

Sister Sage most likely has visions and is able to affect people via them

The Eye of Providence is often seen as a symbol of protection and guidance, and it’s been used in religious, philosophical contexts, and more recently in the context of Conspiracy theories representing “Big Brother” or the concert of mass surveillance and control. Knowing ‘The Boys’ universe and how they like to satirize real life through the show, it’s more likely that her powers have nothing to do with speed, and Homelander will use her “insight” to gain even more control over the masses. Sister Sage’s powers are most likely associated with either control or visions.

I mean, her nickname is also a major clue in this, as Sages were historically knowledgeable individuals who often possessed insights, wisdom, and moral character and often did so through visions and having a deeper knowledge of the spiritual world, depending on which culture you analyze.

So, Sister Sage will have divine powers, and she will be crucial in either saving democracy or dooming it to fail? So, how powerful could she be? Well pretty damn powerful.

How strong is Sister Sage compared to the powerhouses of The Boys?

Just to make it clear one more time, this is pure speculation since Sister Sage is not from the comics, but we can assume, based on what we’ve seen from pretty much all Supes ever, that she does have moderately enhanced physical attributes compared to regular humans. Almost every Supe that you encounter in the show can lift more and tank more damage, some more so than others, however.

So we’re going to assume that Sister Sage is stronger than humans and more durable than humans, but due to her skillset being more related to supernatural Homelander-level strength is most likely not a part of her powers, which automatically makes her weaker than the likes of Stormfront and Queen Maeve as well.

Let’s also assume that she is faster than regular humans but can’t come nowhere near A-Train in terms of physical speed. If she doesn’t have any offensive skills like Victoria Neuman or Starlight, that would make her weaker than them as well.

Her physical abilities are more likely on the level of someone who has gotten a dose of Temp V. But! This is not everything. Her supposed ability to predict events and to manipulate them, to have an insight into what will happen next and what her enemies are planning, might make her one of the most powerful characters yet because she could predict absolutely every scenario, including Homelander’s possible hits, or possible hits from the Boys, which is most likely why Homelander will want her on his side.

Homelander is suffering from extremely bad PR and yes he does have masses on his side but there are people out there who can see through the bull, this is most likely where Sister Sage will come one.
