Marvel Studios recently shared a teaser trailer highlighting upcoming animated and live-action releases set for 2024 and 2025. One of the shows that fans are especially excited about is Wonder Man.

The series will follow Simon Williams, a stuntman and actor who gains superpowers and becomes the superhero Wonder Man. It’s been described as a “Hollywood satire.”

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as Simon Williams, with Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, Lauren Glazier, and Josh Gad rounding out the cast.

While it’s unclear how closely the MCU will stick to Simon’s comic story, if they follow it closely, fans could be in for a big romance storyline—assuming Scarlet Witch is still around. Several people involved with Scarlet Witch’s MCU storyline have recently hinted that she may still play a part, especially with Agatha All Along now airing.

You might be wondering—what’s Scarlet Witch’s connection to Wonder Man? Well, in the comics, Vision was originally created by Ultron, who used Simon Williams’ brainwave patterns as the model for Vision’s personality.

This gave Vision a personality much like Simon’s, including a natural affection for Wanda, which led to a genuine love story between them. Vision and Wanda even had children, though created through magical means.

Both Vision and Ultron are expected to return in the upcoming Vision Quest series, though we’ll see the version known as White Vision, introduced in WandaVision.

When Vision and Wanda first fell in love, Wonder Man was in a sort of suspended state. But when Simon was eventually revived, things got complicated. He found himself drawn to Wanda, partly due to the emotions that Vision had inherited from his own brainwave patterns.

Simon developed strong feelings for Wanda and openly admitted his love for her multiple times, which caused tension between him and Vision. Because Vision’s personality was based on Simon’s brain patterns, Simon felt a unique connection to Wanda, even though she was married to Vision.

Over time, Vision went through changes, including a major storyline where he was dismantled and rebuilt without Simon’s brain patterns. This new version of Vision became more distant and cold, losing the warmth Wanda had fallen in love with. This change made things more complicated, as Simon’s familiar warmth and kindness became a comforting presence for her.

Simon’s love for Wanda even led him to refuse to help bring Vision back at one point. Later, when Wanda brought Simon back in his ionic form, he supported her when she needed someone by her side. They eventually shared a brief romance, but it didn’t last long.

Over time, this love triangle became less of a focus for the characters, but it left a lasting impact on all three. Vision and Wanda’s marriage eventually fell apart after facing many hardships, including the loss of their children.

The MCU won’t be able to adapt the love triangle exactly as in the comics since Wonder Man wasn’t part of Vision’s origin in the MCU. However, the upcoming Vision Quest series could see White Vision cross paths with Wonder Man, and if Wanda returns, things could definitely get complicated.

If Scarlet Witch does come back, though, her main priority might be finding her sons, Billy and Tommy, who have now been reincarnated in the MCU.
