Tokyo Revengers: Is Izana Stronger than Mikey? Here’s What Happened in the Fight!
While it is certainly not the best arc in the series, Tokyo Revengers‘ Tenjiku Arc is certainly one of the most interesting ones, as it introduced us to some great characters, revealed some exciting and shocking info, and gave us some great battles. But, in the shadows of the epic clash between the two groups, several interesting individual battles played out, and this article is going to continue our coverage of these clashes. The clash we are going to cover here is the one between Izana Kurokawa, the main villain of the arc, and Mikey Sano, his “brother.” What happened in this clash? Keep reading to find out!
Izana and Mikey had a shared history, which is why Izana hated Mikey
As was made clear during this arc, Izana and Mikey had a shared history in the series. As we have explained in an earlier article, Izana Kurokawa was the adoptive brother of Shinichiro, Emma, and Manjiro Sano. He was so envious of Mikey that he wanted to kill him; this was the result of an incident that really defined him when they were younger.
Specifically, when they were still children, Izana and Shinichiro were a perfect pair and were like true brothers. Izana looked up to Shinichiro as an older brother, and Shinichiro reciprocated the affection. One day, as a gift, he granted Izana control of the Black Dragon, establishing him as the gang’s eighth president—but only if he could subsequently give it to Shinichiro’s younger brother, Manjiro. So, because of his jealousy, he started to feel a great deal of hatred.
This hatred was at the core of their battle, which was actually the final stage of the clash between Tenjiku and Toman. So, what happened, and who won that clash?
Mikey was ultimately victorious in this clash
We know that the fight between Toman and Tenijku was a very epic clash; although outnumbered, Toman had some initial success in the clash, but Tenjiku soon took control of the events on the battlefield. Namely, Tenjiku’s best fighters remained in the fight until all other fighters were sprawled out on the ground, exhausted and defeated. Things eventually got out of hand when Kakucho faced off against Takemichi and easily defeated him. Takemichi was pushed to give up by Chifuyu, but he resisted. Everything seemed to be going Tenjiku’s way, but then something unexpected happened. Everything changed with an unexpected, almost instantaneous, arrival.
It was, of course, Mikey who had heard about Takemichi from Hinata, which is why both he and Draken, despite their tragedy (Emma’s death), came to help Toman against Tenjiku. Mikey would, of course, face off against Izana, the leader of Tenjiku, not just because of that but also because the two of them had a shared history.
Izana was a brilliant fighter, but so was Mikey, and before it all started, Mikey was the favorite to win this clash. Yet, surprisingly, Izana had a lot of initial success, and he was able not only to overpower Mikey but also to land a few powerful hits on him. Mikey tried to soften him up by talking about the people close to him, but everyone soon realized that Izana was so broken that he did not care for anyone anymore.
And when it seemed that Mikey would go down, Izana started to become fatigued. His fighting was sloppier and his movements slower, and Mikey quickly used this to his advantage, as he was able to defeat Izana. The latter would even point a gun at Mikey at one moment, but the situation did not end tragically for Mikey, who ultimately won the fight.
How strong is Izana?
Well, in case you were wondering, we will also tell you just how strong Izana is in the series. Namely, it might come as a surprise that Izana managed to face Mikey as he did, but also that Mikey ultimately won, seeing Izana’s strengths. We can confirm here that the fight’s outcome is realistic and that Izana received a good ending in this arc, but what about Izana’s strength?
Well, we can confirm that Izana was truly one of the best fighters in the series. Not only were his skills amazing, but he was also ruthless and brutal, all of which are relevant for assessing his level of skill. So yes, he was – certainly – and still remains one of the series’ most skilled fighters, but he was not on the same level as Mikey.
