When & Where Does ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’ Take Place?
One of the things that have been clear about Star Wars is that the storyline is expanding deeper and deeper into the lore of the galaxy with the release of new shows that have become quite popular among fans. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is one of the shows that Lucasfilm has just released on Disney+ and is looking to add more storylines to the vast Star Wars history. So, when and where does Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventure takes place?
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures takes place during the High Republic era, around 200 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga. The series also takes place in a remote Jedi Temple established on Tenoo, an exotic world full of adventures.
While Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures isn’t going to be important in the grander scheme of things in the Star Wars storyline, the thing that needs to be understood is that this is part of the Star Wars canon and is one of the first attempts of Lucasfilm to dive deeper into the High Republic era outside of the books. Now, let’s look at the setting of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.
When Does Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures Take Place?
When it comes to the Star Wars lore, we know that many stories have happened in the history of Star Wars. That means that there are a lot of different possibilities that Lucasfilm can come up with when it comes to the story of Star Wars, as there are a lot of different events that took place well outside of the storyline of the Skywalker Saga. And one of the stories that Lucasfilm came up with was Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, a canon Star Wars series on Disney+.
Young Jedi Adventures follows the story of three Jedi younglings still trying to learn more about how to use the Force and what it means to be a Jedi. However, the storyline takes place in a different time period from what we’ve grown accustomed to when it comes to the Star Wars lore. That’s because Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures takes place during the High Republic era of the galaxy.
While Lucasfilm is yet to truly cover the High Republic era, this was an era that the Star Wars novels have talked about extensively. The High Republic era was a long period of relative peace and prosperity in the galaxy due to the period when the Republic was at its peak, with different systems around the galaxy joining it. Of course, the Jedi Order was also at its peak during the High Republic era because the Sith were already believed to have gone extinct.
The High Republic era lasted from 500 BBY to 100 BBY as both the Republic and the Jedi Order saw 400 years of peace and prosperity. That means that Young Jedi Adventures takes place hundreds of years before the events of the Skywalker Saga. The storyline takes place more than 200 years before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Of course, if you look at the storyline and premise of Young Jedi Adventures, it would make sense for Lucasfilm to allow it to take place during the High Republic era. Remember that this series is supposed to be for general audiences, specifically children. As such, it would be best to develop a storyline that’s great for children and isn’t as violent as the other Star Wars storylines. And because the High Republic era was relatively peaceful, a series following the adventures of Jedi younglings would be best suited to take place during an era that didn’t have the same kind of turmoil that the Skywalker Saga experienced.
Where Does Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures Take Place?
As mentioned, Young Jedi Adventures takes place more than 200 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga because it is set during the High Republic era. During the High Republic era, the Jedi Order established many different outposts and temples in different places around the galaxy to strengthen the coverage of the Jedi when it came to problems related to the peace of the Republic.
With that said, the storyline of Young Jedi Adventures started off on Coruscant, where it was announced that Jedi younglings would now embark on the newest chapter of their training. They would be taken to different Jedi temples around the galaxy to continue training there while taking on different tasks and missions.
This is different from what the younglings of the Skywalker Saga experienced as they all had to train in the main Jedi Temple on Coruscant before they became Padawans that had to leave the Jedi Temple to train under Jedi Knights and Masters. However, in Young Jedi Adventures, the trio of Kai, Lys, and Nubs were still children when they were sent off to continue training on Tenoo. The Jedi established a temple outpost on this exotic yet very vibrant planet.
As such, the main storyline of Young Jedi Adventures mostly takes place on Tenoo but also on different planets around the galaxy. But most important events happen on Tenoo as this is the temple the main characters were assigned to. While on that planet, the trio has to take on different adventures and quests to become better Jedi. Of course, one of the characters that helped the training of the main trio was Jedi Master Yoda, who we know has been around since before the High Republic era.
