Who is Pandora, the Witch of Vainglory?

A long time ago, Pandora was granted the Authority of Vainglory, with which she had been granted the title of the Witch of Vainglory; later she joined Withes of Sin, but was forgotten along with Hector, since both were not considered dangerous. At some point, she met Echidna, with whom her interaction is unknown

What Happened to Rem in Re:Zero & Will She Ever Wake Up?

She survived the events of the Great Calamity and after that, Pandora caused disasters in different places over time, until one day, with Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti, she founded the Witch Cult. About a hundred years ago, Pandora discovered a seal in the Elior Forest, and since she needed Emilia to open it, she led Kurohebi, Regulus, and the Witch Cult to attack that place.

Both Fortuna and Geuse confronted her until Pandora caused an illusion in Geuse, who ended up killing Fortuna. This caused Emilia to lose control and freeze the area. Upon losing her key to open the cave, Pandora sealed her memories. She was also behind the attack against Garkla thirty years ago and the failed battle against Hakugei fifteen years ago, where she fought Thearesia, who was killed by Pandora.

Pandora tends to use superficial and selfish logic. It is unusual in that she can make people like Regulus refer to her as “sama” due to the fear that she can cause people. It is mysterious, as speaking of Pandora is taboo for both moderates and radicals of the Witch Cult.

What are her powers and abilities?

Pandora is believed to have used the Authority of Vainglory to stop aging shortly after discovering it but without being able to reverse it. This why she always looks very young. As we have said, Pandora is currently capable of using the Authority of Vainglory. With it, Pandora can rewrite the phenomenon in her favor as many times as she wants. Using this, she can even deny her death as many times as she wants.

She can also erase the presence of a person without leaving any trace of their actions, reverse damage caused by battles and change the memories of other people such as Emilia (although the latter could remember fragments of the memories erased by Pandora), and she can also manipulate the senses of others by making them see or feel different things. Even though she can’t control Kurohebi and Hakugei with her authority, she is able to direct them wherever she wants, though it seems that she is not capable of killing people with this Authority.

She also believes that she is immortal, although this needs to be proven.

Before we actually end this article, we wanted to give you a quick overview of the group in question. Namely, the Witches of Sin are an important narrative segment of Re:Zero and in this final section, we are going to tell you some basic information about the group itself. This will only serve as a short introduction.

Who are the Witches of Sin in Re:Zero?

The group of Witches of Sin was active 400 years ago, before the six calamities were killed by Satella, who was later sealed away in a shrine that is currently guarded by the sages. According to Sekhmet, Subaru is the third person to meet more than two Witches, the other two being Reid Astrea and Flugel.

Each Witch of Sin has a unique Authority and story. According to Echidna, in the anime, she herself has regrets for actions she has done and continues to do even after she is dead, due to her insatiable thirst for knowledge; Minerva is responsible for fighting and healing people, in an attempt to end the world’s wars and suffering; Sekhmet is responsible for fighting and taking the dragons beyond the falls of the world, just so they can rest in peace; Daphne is responsible for creating all demonic beasts, due to her desire to end world hunger and defy the laws of nature; Typhon is responsible for judging criminals, his youthful innocence taking matters into his own hands; Carmilla is responsible for using her powers to give feelings to non-humans, in an attempt to spread love in the world; Satella is responsible for the destruction of the other witches as she absorbed them and became the most powerful and hated of them all.

As seen in the flashbacks of Arc 4, we are introduced to two more Witches of Sin, these being: Pandora, who is responsible for the attack on Emilia’s Homeland a hundred years ago, and Hector, who attacked the Sanctuary four hundred years ago when Echidna was still alive, and is known as the Witch of Melancholy.
