Why Does Kakashi Wear A Mask?

Why Does Kakashi Wear A Mask?

Naruto is probably one of those anime series that everybody knows about. Even the people who don’t watch or even dislike anime. And Kakashi is one of the beloved characters. But he does have a secret!

Kakashi wears a mask that covers his lower face and his eye. One of the most known theories is that he does not like to show his nosebleeds. He enjoys the mystery surrounding him all while hiding his natural beauty.

Keep reading to find out who has seen his face and why did he wear the mask in early childhood!

Why Does Kakashi Wear A Mask?

Why Does Kakashi Wear A Mask?

Kakashi wore a mask over his face because he didn’t want anybody to catch him with a nosebleed, according to the anime. Anime aficionados will recognize that a nosebleed does not indicate an injury or sickness. Instead, it’s supposed to represent a character’s grown-up ideas.

We know that the reason Kakashi wears a face mask is never stated in the Naruto anime or manga series. In the actual world, ninjas were a community similar to samurai or apache. They, too, had many schools for defense and offensive combat. Ninjas that acted as spies, VIP murderers, or joined both sides in combat (as double agents) rarely exposed their faces.

Some were also outside of any communal boundaries and were criminals or bounty hunters who killed for money. For obvious reasons, they had to keep their identities hidden. Kakashi’s persona is most likely based on one of those gloomy and cold-hearted ninjas he was as a youngster.

Kishimito was asked the same question during an interview. His response was that he thought ninjas were mysterious, therefore he made Kakashi wear a mask, but he didn’t do that with other characters since it’s too difficult to capture their reactions without the full face.

Perhaps it has something to do with ANBU. Kakashi was an ANBU member, and all ANBU members wear masks.

Or something linked to his father abandoning the mission to save his colleagues, which severely harmed the village’s image. So, perhaps Kakashi wore a mask out of embarrassment. However, this hypothesis is a little shaky because Kakashi subsequently sorted out his priorities while still wearing the mask.

One popular, but soon discredited, story is that Kakashi wears a mask because his father was killed while on a mission to save his colleagues. Kakashi wears the mask to either hide his embarrassment or to disguise the fact that he looks uncannily similar to his father. However, Kakashi wore the mask as a youngster before his father died, making that notion one of the least credible.

Why Did Kakashi Wear A Mask Even As A Kid?

Following his father’s death, Kakashi became more severe and serious, following all the regulations to the letter and chastising anyone who disregarded them, such as his teammate Obito Uchiha. He was also distant and apathetic toward others, particularly his teammate Obito, who was usually late for their assignments and would arrive with a grandiose excuse.

This made Obito dislike Kakashi; however, the dynamic between the two would soon shift after Obito was fatally wounded during the Third Shinobi World War, with Kakashi and Obito becoming closer friends after Rin was taken.

Obito’s alleged death had a significant influence on Kakashi’s attitude, as he adopted many of his friend’s cheery habits, such as caring more about his teammates and pupils than the successful completion of a mission, and thinking that collaboration is vital to overall team success. He has also developed a somewhat careless demeanor and is frequently late for appointments, just like Obito before him, offering apparent excuses.

This is frequently due to his inability to keep track of time during his numerous visits to the memorial stone where Obito’s name is etched. Kakashi, on the other hand, is still as apathetic as he was in his childhood, frequently speaking frankly about difficult issues.

Consider how his peers felt at the Ninja Academy if you believe Kakashi is remarkable as an adult in the Naruto universe. As a kid, he was a natural at learning all kinds of ninjutsu. He adjusted so rapidly to his instruction that he graduated from the Academy at the age of five. To put it in context, most of Naruto’s peers graduated when they were 11 or 12 years old.

As Team 7’s acting Jonin commander, Kakashi was one of the first teachers Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke had to teach them ninja skills. During that period, however, Kakashi never once removed his characteristic mask in such a way that anybody could see his face. In fact, his face remained covered for so long that it became one of the show’s most enigmas.

The strange thing about Kakashi’s mask is that he never wore it when he was alive. Even when we see him in flashbacks as a youngster, the white-haired ninja is always wearing his characteristic facial covering.

This may imply to some that wearing a mask is a tradition in Kakashi’s clan or country, yet no one else in the Land of Fire, including his father, wears one. This implies that wearing the mask was a decision taken by Kakashi as a youngster.

We can also rule out the idea that Kakashi is concealing any sort of deformity, as he is extremely handsome when the mask is off on rare occasions. People who view his features are frequently taken aback by his inherent attractiveness.

Does Kakashi Ever Take His Mask Off?

Why Does Kakashi Wear A Mask?

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, had only briefly exposed Kakashi’s face in the form of a manga drawing contained in a booklet given out at the Naruto art exhibition held in Japan last April.

Naruto is always eager about seeing Kakashi’s face in Episode 469. Although Sakura and Sasuke dismiss the notion as tired, a new ninja named Sukae appears and suggests checking the ninja registration database for a photo of Kakashi’s complete face. Sukae claims he’ll help them in exchange for the huge scoop he’ll get if he can have it published in the media.

They breach into the secret document storage room and are ready to disclose Kakashi’s photo when they are found by the ANBU security guards and forced to confess defeat.

Sukae recommends attempting to photograph Kakashi while he prepares to eat as a backup strategy. This goes horribly wrong when they look at the photographs, which show merely a bird flying in the path, followed by Kiba’s dog Akamaru jumping over Kakashi’s face minutes later.

When they were all beaten up at the end of the day, Naruto questioned Kakashi directly about what was under his mask. Kakashi agreed to show them, and they each imagined what expression their mentor has. Kakashi eventually removed his mask, only to expose another mask below, causing Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura to fall to the ground in terror while Kakashi chuckled.

Although Naruto and his companions are unable to see Kakashi’s face, fans are able to witness the full beauty of his bishounen appearance when he removes his disguise. His scar appears to extend all the way to his face, and he also has a mole on his chin.

Why Does Kakashi Hide His Eye?

Sharingan is the Uchiha clan’s Kekkei Genkai. According to Tobirama Senju, the Uchiha suppress their feelings until they can let it all out at once while feeling very strong emotions such as love, hate, regret, or anger, resulting in a consistent flow of Chakra in their optical nerves down to their eyes, changing the looks of their eyes and forming the Sharingan. They may halt the continuous flow of Chakra into their eyes by using Chakra control, resulting in their Sharingan reverting to regular eyes.

Because he is not an inheritor of the Kekkei Genkai, Kakashi Hatake lacks the chakra responsible for creating or turning the Sharingan on/off. As a result, his Sharingan works with his body’s Chakra rather than the special Chakra and is active at all times.

As a result, it ends up utilizing too much of Kakashi’s Chakra, weakening him to his extreme limits when utilized excessively. Remember that his Sharingan was also the reason he perished during the Konoha attack. As a result, he shuts his eye with the assistance of a special headband to switch off the energy-draining eye.

Unlike Uchchihas, who use their own chakra to access Sharingan, Kakashi obtained the eye through surgery. He lacks the ability to control the eye and so cannot stop it. Because Sharingan detects motions quickly, it absorbs more info from its environment than a regular eye.

Not to mention the additional energy required to scan through the mist and other obstructions. The only method to avoid wasting energy when it isn’t required is to cover the eye with something it can’t look through. Endurance – One of the most important criteria for becoming a competent ninja is the ability to save energy.

If his Sharingan is constantly active, it must be able to see through objects as part of its abilities, right? Perhaps if Kakashi keeps it behind his mask, he’ll be able to see everything beyond the mask but not what’s behind that, allowing him to utilize his Sharingan eye like a normal eye and end up with a functional set!

During the Third Great War, he, Obito, Rin, and Minato were on a mission to demolish a bridge to prevent enemies or something, but Rin was kidnapped by a few enemies seeking intelligence, and Kakashi and Obito proceeded to retrieve her. While saving her, Kakashi’s eye was sliced and he became blind, but Obito, who was buried beneath a boulder, handed Kakashi his eye, which contained the Sharingan (Rin did the medical transplant).

The scar was most likely caused by the adversary slashing his eye, and if Obito hadn’t given him his Sharingan, he would have lost an eye or been partially blinded.

Who Has Seen Kakashi’s Face?

Why Does Kakashi Wear A Mask?

Many individuals (including team 7) had seen Kakashi’s face previously, but they were unaware since Kakashi was disguised. Teuchi and Ayame have also seen Kakashi’s face as he is eating ramen.

When Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura asked Kakashi to ramen, he removed his mask and ate it.

Teuchi and Ayame, on the other hand, only see his face. Because team 10 was blocking their vision, the rest of team 7 couldn’t see Kakashi’s face.

The following time they saw his face was in Naruto Shippuden episode 469, titled “A Special Mission.” Many people noticed his face in this episode but had no idea it was Kakashi sensei. Sukea was Kakashi’s disguise. Sukea declares himself to be a photographer.

Did Kakashi Show His Face To Naruto?

Kakashi’s true face has been such a huge mystery that an entire episode (Episode 101) was dedicated to trying to reveal his face. He has consistently been among the top five most popular characters based on surveys from certain Naruto Manga chapters.

In the episode, his three trainees–Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura–try every technique in the book to find Kakashi’s face, with amusing consequences.

However, in Naruto Shippuden Episode 469, his face is shown not once, but twice! The first time was when he was removing a disguise, and the second time was when he concealed in a corner seeking his young recruits.

What Type Of Mask Does Kakashi Wear?

After Naruto recovered his original eye during the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kakashi resumed wearing his forehead protector balanced atop his brow. He has worn a mask that hides the majority of his face since boyhood and wears it almost constantly. Even his ninken have only seen his face so seldom that most of them have forgotten what he looks like uncovered.

When he shows his entire face, he has a thin jawline and a beauty mark under the left corner of his lips.

For the majority of Parts I and II, Kakashi is dressed in Konoha’s regular infantry uniform: a flak jacket, dark blue trousers, and a long-sleeved shirt. He is also spotted wearing fingerless gloves with metal plates on the backhand and a chain necklace below.

Kakashi is a physically fit and reasonably tall shinobi with spiky white hair (silver in the anime) and black eyes. A vertical scar runs over his left eye, which has later been replaced with a Sharingan. It is unknown why Kakashi donned his face mask at such an early age.

In the rare times, Kakashi has been seen without his mask, it has been observed that he has a thin jaw-line; in these cases, the areas of his face typically hidden by his mask are visible. Teuchi and Ayame’s reactions to seeing his face clearly imply that he is really quite attractive in the anime.

Chiyo once mistook him for his father Sakumo Hatake, whom he resembled despite the fact that much of his face is hidden. Kakashi’s personality is highlighted further by his typically sluggish face, distant demeanor, relaxed voice, and minimalist attitude. On severe occasions, he is seen to have an extremely stern and focused expression.

Kakashi has an ANBU tattoo on his left shoulder and did not use a forehead protector while in ANBU. In the anime, he donned a brown cloak over his uniform after becoming an ANBU captain.

When Kakashi joined the regular troops, he returned to the normal uniform of the forces and began wearing shorter metal-plated gloves. He also wears a forehead protector on a simple blue band that is slanted to the left to hide the Sharingan, as well as a mask that obscures the bottom part of his face, showing just his left eye when he is ready to utilize it.

Prior to acquiring his Sharingan, Kakashi wore an item of basic black clothing with the bottom part of his face hidden as a youngster. He also donned a scarf with a basic pattern going down its length to the entry ceremony, which he subsequently replaced with a plain green scarf. He wore basic black clothing with an open-front apron around his waist and fish-net armor around his ankles as a genin.

He wore a black T-shirt with white stripes down the sleeves during his early missions as a jonin. He has black sleeves on his arms with metal arm guards over them. He also wears leather straps across his back and chest, and his family’s White Light Chakra Sabre is stored in a tiny container at the rear. He also wore pants that looked identical to the ones he wears now. He looks to be dressed in a child’s clothing (as seen in a flashback).

In another flashback, he is shown wearing a sleeveless black shirt identical to one he wears as an adult. This shirt is most likely intended for informal use. Later, as a teenager, he donned a black bodysuit with a version of Konoha’s wartime flak jacket before the Nine-Tails’ Attack on Konoha.
