‘Heavenly Delusion’: Was Takahara Academy Attacked or Was It an Accident?
As fans will know, Heavenly Delusion is a very peculiar manga and anime series. It combines many known elements but still manages to create a uniquely special story that has captured the attention of fans worldwide. The characters are our usual topic when Heavenly Delusion is concerned, but in this article, we will explain one particular event from the recent episode, an event involving Takahara Academy. Namely, not long after the Academy announced the start of the test to see the “Outside of the Outside,” the Academy was struck by a series of explosions, and everything went downhill very fast. So, what happened? Was it an accident? Did a plane fall? Or was it an attack? Keep reading this article to find out all the details.
Takahara Academy was attacked, as Aoshima revealed later during a phone call. Initially, no one knew what happened, but some of them thought that it was an accident or something similar to that, but, as the phone call revealed, the Academy was actually attacked or, more precisely, bombed by airplanes. The damage was substantial, but the technology of the Academy was sufficient enough to repair the damage quickly.
The rest of this article is, of course, going to focus on the attack on Takahara Academy in Heavenly Delusion. The story behind this attack is quite intriguing and is one of the story’s biggest mysteries, which is why it needs further explanation, as it was the only way to actually expand on the lore properly. The attack is crucial for the Academy and its children, so we’ll tell you everything you need to know to fully understand what happened. The article, we have to warn you, will contain many spoilers, so be careful how you approach it if you don’t want to ruin the viewing experience.
The incident at Takahara Academy was a bombing from the outside
Fans of Heavenly Delusion will know that Takahara Academy is a mysterious and strange place. It is seemingly cut off from the outside world and implies that this is the Heaven the two protagonists seek.
Whether that is true or not is something we won’t be revealing to you at this moment, as it is not our intention to spoil everything for you in this article, but we are going to talk about the relationship between the Academy and the outside world, so there’s that. For everything else, we sincerely suggest you take up the manga because it is really good and has a great storyline. Now, back to the incident.
Remember our article on the “Outside of the Outside”? Part of that article is related to the incident, at least chronologically. Namely, As the story kept developing, the concept “Outside of the Outside” was mentioned from time to time, but aside from the conclusion of the children that it must be referring to what was behind the walls, no one really questioned it further, at least not until the most recent episodes, which is also when the incident happened. Was it a coincidence?
We don’t know at t the time, but we do know what happened. So, what is it?
Namely, As a group of new children came to the Academy, and a lot of other things happened (Tokio giving birth, Tarao dying, Mimihime having strange visions of the future, etc.), the children were finally given a chance to go to the “Outside of the Outside,” but only if they passed a certain test.
No details were provided as to the contents of the test, but the children were informed that they would not need to study for it, which was surprising. Again, there was no mention of it until a certain date came, which is when an announcement was made – the test would start on that day. But it did not.
Later during that day, in the garden, a group of small girls suddenly started crying out about a danger approaching, and moments later – shock and chaos. Explosions all around the Academy. The ceiling fell down, the walls were broken, and a strange invisible force afraid of water seemed to be present, although nothing was seen there. As the older children brought the younger ones to safety and sent them to the pool, four of them (Mimihime, Shiro, Anzu, and Taka) decided to go through the rubble and see for themselves a hole in the wall of the Academy.
As they walked, further explosions happened, killing the Director’s keeper and seemingly her, but the old witch suddenly rose from her wheelchair and started running away, but was still caught in the falling debris. The ceiling was partially destroyed, and a large hole was made in the wall of the Academy, through which the four children crawled out and actually discovered the “Outside of the Outside,” i.e., the real world.
But what happened, actually? Everyone at the Academy was confused. The damage was substantial, but most people survived, including the deplorable Director who, on her feet and bloodied, came in a state of frenzy and demanded that Tokio gave her her child so she could transfer her mind into the child’s body.
Tokio refused and then seemingly petrified herself while the Director remained completely crazy. In the meantime, the children by the pool were safe, while the four remaining ones – Mimihime, Shiro, Anzu, and Taka – explored the world outside the Academy.
Deputy Aoshima considered the Director to be dead and initiated Noah, a secret contingency plan, obviously, and then disappeared. As it turned out, she took a car and went to locate the four children who were outside; Mimihime and Shiro were exploring the forest, while Anzu and Taka ended up on the beach, where they first witnessed the sunset.
Aoshima gathered them and later had a call which revealed that the incident at Takahara was not an accident, but an air raid, basically, as the school was bombed by planes from the outside. It is unknown who did it now, so we will not spoil it for you here.
What you should know, though, is that the technology present in the Academy was enough to quickly repair the damage done to the Academy’s infrastructure, but the future of the institution, as well as the fate of the people inside it, remains unclear, as we’ll have to wait for the next episode to find out more details.
