Undead Unluck: Who Is Unrepair? Meet Under’s Rip Tristan!
Undead Unluck is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka, which has been ongoing since January 20, 2020, and has now been collected in 18 volumes as of the time of writing. The story is a supernatural adventure filled with humor, so you can imagine the series will be filled with ridiculous powers and abilities. But, aside from these, the world of Undead Unluck is also filled with various intriguing characters and in this article, we are actually going to tell you about one such character, as you are going to find out who Rip Tristan, Under’s Negator with the Unrepair ability, is and what happens to him in the series.
Rip Tristan, a.k.a. Unrepair, is the next villain with his own arc, after Spoil
The Spoil Arc featured a major UMA as a villain, which makes sense seeing that the UMA are characters who appear to be the natural enemies in the lore of Undead Unluck. On the other hand, they are not the only antagonists in the series, as the Unrepair Arc is going to show us. The next arc is going introduce us to a completely new villainous group in the series, a group that is much stranger and less obvious than the UMA.
The group we are going to talk about is called Under, and they are a group of Negators who oppose the Union; they are powerful but have been hurt by the world and see it as an unjust place, which is why their goal is to gather powerful Negator with whom they would conquer the world and tailor it based on their wishes and desires. Among them, there is a special group called the “Negator Hunter,” which is led by Rip Tristan, and this is how the titular character of this article enters the story.
After the release of UMA Galaxy, Andy and Fuuko go to search for Unrepair in Brazil, where an auction is being held, dealing in Negators, artifacts, and UMAs. They conjectured that this was the place where they would find Unrepair, and they were right, as Rip Tristan was there.
Rip Tristan’s story is actually quite sad if you really want to know. Namely, before he became a Negator Hunter, Rip Tristan was happy and was engaged to a girl named Leila Mirah. The two of them were happy and had a great relationship with Leila’s sister, Latla. But, as it happened, Leila fell ill with an undisclosed heart disease, and that was the tragedy, or injustice, that struck Rip Tristan and made him hate the world. Since the pain of losing Leila bonded them, Tristan and Latla were together at the auction, and that is how Unrepair actually appeared.
Now, we could tell you the whole plot of the Unrepair Arc here, but that would mean that we have to spoil a lot of details for you, and we don’t want to take away the experience of seeing the anime or reading the manga away from you. The Unrepair Arc began like this, and while we won’t be telling you more about the plot, we can provide you with more details about Unrepair.
Namely, knowing that Rip wasn’t a proper villain is important. He has a goal – bringing Leila back – and will do anything it takes, using his intellect and methodical approach to things. But, he is a very kind-hearted person, and, as Latla explained, the only reason why he will continue to be the villain of the series and not a hero is that he only wants to undo Leila’s death, whatever it takes. Such characters are almost always the villains in the series because no matter how noble their goals are when they put them in front of the greater good, they are always treated as villains.
His power, Unrepair, allows him to stop something from being fixed. This power can also be used to make a normal wound fatal, as it can stop it from healing.
