Jujutsu Kaisen: No, Inumaki Does Not Hate Yuji, Despite Losing His Arm Because of Sukuna!

Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen, despite not being a central character in the series, is incredibly popular because he is quite quirky and special. Due to his power, he has to speak using codes that won’t harm his friends, making him very popular among the fans. In this article, we will talk about Toge Inumaki and the pivotal moment when he lost his arm in Shibuya. As Yuta confirmed, Inumaki lost his arm “due to Itadori,” and while you might think that Toge now hates his schoolmate, we don’t really think that is the case. In this article, we are going to elaborate on this in more detail.

Toge Inumaki is not someone who would blame Yuji for what Sukuna did

Before we get into the details, allow us to tell you what happened to Toge in Shibuya. Too late in the story arc, Toge supports his friend Yuji. He handled Mahito’s transfigured humans while letting Yuji into the station. Until later, that is essentially it. He is shown observing a group of individuals too close to Sukuna’s Domain Expansion and would soon perish. That’s the extent of it. It was never truly revealed, but later, after the tragedy, we learn that he lost his left arm to Sukuna’s Domain. This was revealed during Yuta’s talk with the higher-ups when Yuta openly blamed Yuji for what happened to Toge Inumaki, thus confirming that Inumaki lost his arms as part of Sukuna’s rampage in Shibuya.

As we’ve stated, we never really found out what exactly happened to Toge in Shibuya, but knowing Sukuna’s powers and abilities, we can assume – roughly – what happened. We know that Sukuna activated his powerful Domain and that he can also use his abilities – Cleave and Dismantle – inside his Domain, and even set the condition that everyone and everything trapped inside is affected by these techniques, which is how he can kill or injure many people simultaneously. Seeing how Inumaki’s arm was sliced off and how he was taken care of with a special bandage that was used to control Sukuna’s fingers, we can deduce that the Domain’s techniques caught him and that he lost his arm like that.

Sadly, Toge Inumaki did not appear later on, and while we know he is alive – that’s about it. We don’t know his condition or his mental state, and the only thing we had was Yuta’s comment given to the higher-ups. But there is an issue with it. Namely, Yuta said he blamed Yuji because his friend, Toge, lost an arm, which was an argument he used to persuade the higher-ups that he would, indeed, kill Itadori as they wanted him to do. But, we later found out that Yuta never intended to kill Itadori and that it was all part of Gojo’s contingency plan; Yuta would, in fact, save Itadori before the Culling Game started.

So, what does this tell us about Inumaki? First, we have to reiterate the fact that Toge and Itadori are friends and that Inumaki was acquainted with Yuji’s specific situation, i.e., that he knew about Sukuna and what Sukuna was capable of. He also knew what he was getting himself into when he came to Shibuya, so he was ready to die, we assume. Secondly, Yuji had absolutely no control over Sukuna at the time, as he was force-fed 11 fingers and could do absolutely nothing about it at that moment.

So, did Toge hate Yuji? We doubt it. They were friends and Toge knew that Yuji would never let Sukuna wreak havoc willingly, i.e., he knew that Itadori wasn’t in control. And sure, technically, it was Itadori’s body that Sukuna used, but Toge doesn’t strike us as the type of character who would hate Itadori for what Sukuna did, so we genuinely think that Toge doesn’t hate Yuji for what happened in Shibuya.
