Vincent D’Onofrio Hints at Even More Intense Violence in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Compared to the Original Series: “I can’t believe it made it into the cut”
“Daredevil: Born Again” is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated upcoming MCU TV shows. Initially envisioned as a soft reboot of the original Netflix series, it has undergone a significant creative overhaul and will now function more as a continuation, given that the Defenders saga is considered canon in the MCU.
The latest update from D23 revealed the return of both Punisher and Kingpin, with whom Daredevil will have some sort of agreement. Additionally, there’s a surprising connection to “Ms. Marvel,” as Yusuf Khan makes an appearance in one of the trailer shots.
White Tiger and Muse will also make appearances, with Muse positioned as a major antagonist. The show promises to be action-packed, with Charlie Cox hinting at single-take fight sequences that could outdo the iconic hallway fight from Netflix’s “Daredevil.”
In a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Vincent D’Onofrio, returning as Wilson Fisk, teased that the action levels will surpass those of the original series. The actor revealed that his character did things he was astonished made it into the final cut of the show.
There are some things in this show, that we go much further with than we did on the original show. There’s one thing in particular, that my character does – that I can’t believe made it into the cut.
Given Marvel’s apparent shift toward more adult-oriented content, we’re inclined to trust D’Onofrio’s claims. With Kingpin already making a significant impact in the TV-MA rated “Echo” miniseries, which featured substantial violence, there’s every reason to believe that “Daredevil: Born Again” will continue to push the boundaries.
“Daredevil: Born Again” is slated to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025. The series will consist of 18 episodes, divided into two halves of nine episodes each, and will be a part of Phase Five of the MCU.
