McKenna Grace Dazzles in Gucci as Her ‘Hunger Games’ Press Tour Fashion Streak Continues
The countdown to ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ is officially underway, and the film’s stars are making the most of the spotlight. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the prequel is set 24 years before the events of ‘The Hunger Games’ and follows a young Haymitch Abernathy into the arena of the 50th Hunger Games. It arrives in theaters on November 20.
Joseph Zada and McKenna Grace kicked off the international press tour in Sydney on October 14, posing beside Sydney Harbour with the Opera House behind them. Zada plays the young Haymitch, while Grace stars as fellow District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner.
Since that first stop, Grace’s red carpet and press looks have drawn attention nearly everywhere she goes. Now she’s added another standout to the collection, with Film Updates sharing new photos of the actress in a colorful Gucci sequin dress for the film’s latest press events.
The look features a vibrant geometric pattern in red, blue, and gold, with long sleeves and a high neckline. Grace finished the outfit with a statement bow at the neckline, pairing it with a sleek high ponytail and soft bangs. It’s a bold, playful choice that fits the franchise’s theatrical style. Fans have quickly embraced the look, adding to the buzz around her press tour wardrobe.
Grace’s outfits aren’t just about glamour. She has revealed that her press-tour looks deliberately pay homage to the characters, designers and cast members who shaped the earlier ‘Hunger Games’ films. Earlier on the tour, she wore a gown inspired by Katniss’ wedding dress from ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’.

The experience has also been personal. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 20-year-old explained that experimenting with fashion during the tour has felt healing, since clothing once made her feel insecure growing up. She described now enjoying it as a creative outlet. She has also shared that Stevie Nicks inspired Maysilee’s style in the film, adding another layer to how Grace is approaching the role on and off screen.
Grace takes on more than one part in the prequel. She plays twins Maysilee and Merrilee Donner, and she is also credited with the film’s songs. Maysilee is a District 12 tribute who becomes the first person to wear the Mockingjay pin, a symbol fans of the franchise know well.
In the story, Haymitch forms an unlikely alliance with Maysilee and joins a coalition determined to challenge the Capitol’s control under President Snow, played by Ralph Fiennes.

The cast is one of the franchise’s most impressive yet. Alongside Zada and Grace, it includes Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak and Kelvin Harrison Jr. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are also set to return as Katniss and Peeta.

Expectations are high. The 5 previous films in the franchise have taken in over $3.3 billion at the box office, and Suzanne Collins’ novel sold 1.5 million copies in its first week on sale. With the release less than a month away, Grace’s press tour looks are helping keep ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ firmly in the conversation. If her fashion streak continues, fans can expect plenty more tributes to Panem before the film hits theaters.
