Bleach: Is Kisuke Urahara Dead? What Happened to Him?
As far as Bleach characters go, there is no doubt that Kisuke Urahara left a permanent mark on the show and that his overall impact is immeasurable. The “Hat and Clogs Guy,” who initially seemed to be a shady merchant and more of a comic relief than anything else, turned out to be one of the series’ most powerful characters and its smartest character by far. Kisuke Urahara was a genius inventor and a powerful Shinigami whom even Yhwach labeled as one of the Five Special Threats; on top of that, he was a former Captain of the Gotei 13. Kisuke Urahara definitely has one of the best stories in the series, a story that encompasses everything and anything, which is why it is only natural that you might wonder what happened to him. In this article, we will tell you whether Kisuke Urahara died in Bleach or not and what happened to him in the story.
Kisukre Urahara is alive and survives the events of Bleach. Kisuke Urahara had many dangerous battles and was seemingly fatally wounded several times (by Yammy and Aizen, most notably), but each time, it would turn out to be a trick. And while Aizen defeated him, Urahara returned to seal Aizen after Ichigo weakened him enough. He also fought against Quincy in Wahrwelt, where Askin Nakk Le Vaar seemingly overpowered him, but being as intelligent as he is, Urahara was prepared for everything and eventually survived the battle.
The remainder of this article will give you a detailed overview of Kisuke Urahara’s fate in the Bleach series. You already know what happened and how it happened, so we will just bring you the details so you know the whole context. Be careful, though, as the article will contain many spoilers, so if you don’t know all the details, be careful how you approach the text.
Kisuke Urahara made sure he survived every dangerous situation he was in
When we first met Kisuke Urahara, he was introduced as a shady merchant in Karakura Town who sold merchandise to Shinigami. And while he seemed friendly and acted dumb on more than one occasion, it was obvious that Kisuke Urahara was hiding something, but it was unknown why. Later in the story, it was revealed that Kisuke Urahara is an extremely powerful and intelligent Shinigami and a genius inventor who knew a lot about the Soul Society and its history.
He was a former member of the 2nd Division while Yoruichi Shihoin was Captain, and Yoruichi nominated him for the position of the Captain of the 12th Division after Kirio Hikifune was promoted to the Royal Guard. Then, he established the Research and Development Division, bringing Mayuri Kurostuchi out of prison to lead it. At the time, he also developed the Hogyoku.
When Aizen’s dealings resulted in the birth of the Visored, Urahara was labeled a traitor by the Soul Society and was forced to leave. He settled in Karakura, where he established his shop and would soon become a powerful ally of Icihgo and his friends.
While he initially did not participate in battles, Urahara helped Ichigo and his friends and trained with them. It wasn’t until the Espada first arrived that Urahara actually engaged in active fighting. But, despite being powerful, Urahara would usually rely on his intelligence to outwit his opponents and defeat them in such a way. He was later responsible for crafting Fake Karakura Town and, along with Yoruichi and Isshin, fought against Aizen. Although Aizen seemingly killed him, it turned out to be just another one of Urahara’s fake bodies.
Although Ichigo was actually the one responsible for Aizen’s defeat, Urahara had actually planted a powerful newly-created Kido inside him that would activate when Aizen’s energy was low enough, which happened during the fight with Ichigo; Aizen was then sealed, which led to his ultimate defeat.
When the Quincy Blood War began, when Ichigo, his friends, Pesche and Nel were discussing the kidnapped Arrancar in Hueco Mundo, Kisuke appeared in Ichigo’s window and offered to help them, which was to open a Garganta to Hueco Mundo. While passing through the Garganta, Ichigo asked Urahara how he could have picked such an opportune moment. Kisuke joked that he waited in front of the window for an opportune moment to appear.
Afterward, however, he said that the recent unusual activities had alarmed him and that it was serious. After arriving in Hueco Mundo, they found nothing but destruction. Ichigo soon decides to free the residents of Hueco Mundo and immediately starts running.
Urahara wonders if Ichigo has already realized that he wants to free his former enemies, but Chad says yes and tries to catch up with Ichigo with Orihime. Shortly thereafter, Urahara and Pesche also set off. He later reappears after Quilge Opie is badly injured after his fight against Ichigo and still gets up. He attacks Quilge and inflicts a large wound on him, but Quilge survives.
After an unknown person kills Quilge and points his sword at Kisuke, he is only seen again when Ichigo communicates with him via Kon. He says everyone is fine when the unknown person comes into Kisuke’s tent to talk to Ichigo.
After Chad and Orihime force the person out of the tent on Kisuke’s orders, Kisuke, who seems to know the person, assures Ichigo that he has nothing to fear and that he has made a deal with the person. Finally, he is seen in the tent talking to Orihime and Chad about Ichigo.
He used the time in Hueco Mundo to forge an alliance with Grimmjow and enable Nel to enter her full Espada mode whenever she wanted. He also discovered why Quincy hated the Hollows so much and used this knowledge to find a way for the Captains to return their stolen Bankai and prevent them from being stolen once again.
But, Urahara did not actively engage in battle until Yhwach transformed the Soul King’s Palace into Wahrwelt. He helped the Shinigami and their new Sternritter allies, as well as the Arrancar, to enter Wahrwelt, and after they split up, his group engaged Askin Nakk Le Vaar, the Sternritter “D” – “The Deathdealing.”
First, Urahara controlled Yoruichi, but this attack failed, as Askin Nakk Le Vaar’s ability consisted of him becoming immune to all types of attacks. Urahara himself then fought him, and Askin commented how Yhwach labeled him a special threat because Urahra was able to adapt to any conditions on the battlefield.
When Askin blinded him, Urahara activated his Bankai and repaired himself while injuring Askin. With it, he also enabled Grimmjow to track them, and as Askin was conversing with Urahara, Grimmjow came from the back and pierced Askin’s heart, killing him. Urahara then found a way to save everyone from Askin’s poison, as he was also ready for that. As we find out later, he recovered and even brought a lot of inventions from the World of the Living to Soul Society, like television and new cell phones.
