There are only a few months left until Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters. Despite the controversies surrounding its development, fans have a lot to look forward to.

This movie marks Sam Wilson’s first solo adventure as Captain America in the MCU, and we’ll also see Thaddeus Ross transform into the Red Hulk. The latest trailer and rumors suggest that the film will address a previously overlooked aspect of the MCU—Celestial Tiamut. His corpse will become a key source of adamantium.

Adamantium, the powerful metal known for Wolverine’s claws and skeleton, will play a major role in Brave New World. At the start of the film, countries are competing for control of adamantium resources. President Ross plans to share these resources globally and recruits Sam Wilson to help rebuild the Avengers.

Adamantium is a nearly indestructible steel alloy, denser than vibranium, and more effective for drilling. However, creating adamantium is costly, and only a few people know how to make it—at least in the comics.

In the MCU, this problem is sidestepped by explaining that Celestials are made of the metal.

Introducing adamantium now, especially after Kevin Feige hinted that familiar faces will appear soon, could lead to the introduction of the Weapon X program.

In Marvel Comics, the Weapon X program is a secret government project that experiments on people to create super soldiers. It’s most famous for turning Wolverine into the weapon he is by injecting him with adamantium, making his bones and claws nearly indestructible.

The MCU might use the newly discovered adamantium deposits as a way for countries to start their own Weapon X programs. Along with Wolverine and Deadpool, Sabertooth is another well-known mutant who was experimented on and turned into a super-strong, savage mutant with enhanced senses.

In addition to these familiar characters, the MCU could explore the stories of X-23, Lady Deathstrike, and Maverick through the Weapon X program.

Introducing Weapon X in Captain America: Brave New World could mean Team X, not the X-Men, becomes the first mutant team in the MCU. After Team X disbanded, many mutants like X-23, Deadpool, Gambit, and others were part of the experiments. This opens the door for these iconic mutants to join the MCU if Weapon X is introduced.
