Did You Know that Henry Cavill Fired The Rock's Wife as His Manager after Losing Superman Role?

As you probably know, Henry Cavill, despite being enormously popular and loved by many fans, doesn’t seem to be able to catch a break. His work as Superman is over, as Gunn decided to replace him with David Corenswet, and his franchise success – The Witcher – also ended up with him being replaced with Liam Hemsworth.

His recent project, Argylle, failed miserably, and while he is not out of work, his career is not on the level you’d expect.

While the actor existing The Witcher production came first, many believed that he would remain as Superman in the DCU, which was a consolation prize of sorts. The studio even encouraged Cavill to announce his return to fans, but in a shocking turn of events, Henry Cavill was fired from the role and, as you know, replaced by David Corenswet.

While many things probably contributed to this happening, it seems that at the time, Henry Cavill found a person to blame, his then-managed Dany Garcia, who is also incidentally Dwayne Johnson’s wife and manager. Well, after losing out on the role of Superman, Cavill fired Garcia, and here is everything you need to know about this.

As you know, the DCEU went through a complete reboot after James Gunn was hired as its head. What was once Zack Snyder’s lovechild was a project that was on track to end completely, with several previously announced and filmed projects still being shown.

One of them, at the time, was Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson. While Johnson kept claiming that the movie was an enormous success and that it would reignite the DCEU, the fact is that the film was a mess that underperformed, but that wasn’t the whole issue.

We’ve reported about the claims that Johnson tried to usurp the DCEU at the time and that he wanted to dictate the creative direction of these movies, alongside making Black Adam one of the DCEU’s main characters.

In order to secure that for himself, he even refused a Shazam! crossover and ultimately gave us an unexpected Superman cameo in his movie, as he managed to bring back Henry Cavill for his last outing as the Man of Steel.

As the situation with Johnson escalated, Cavill was believed to be on his way back to the DCU, but several months later, Cavill released the following statement:

I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.

The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”

This was a shock for everyone, especially after he had been replaced on The Witcher as well. And while everyone had their own version of the story at the time, the fact remains that the DCU wanted something fresh. Was it Cavill who was the problem, or was it his association with Johnson… who knows, but he was ultimately fired.

And while we don’t know what happened, it seems that Cavill blamed his then-managed, Dany Garcia, also Johnson’s wife and manager, for this, as he fired her as well and moved on. Was it for the best? It doesn’t seem like it, but Cavill is slowly getting back on track, while Johnson’s DCU takeover plans have failed miserably.
