Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one of the most anticipated summer blockbusters of the year. The movie is set to open in theaters worldwide in only three days, and yesterday, on May 2, Marvel Studios held a premiere event in Los Angeles, and, of course, all the main stars of the movie attended.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams. Gomez is making her debut as America Chavez, while the other stars are reprising their respective MCU roles. Sam Raimi, director of the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, directed this movie after Scott Derrickson, director of the first Doctor Strange movie, stepped down due to creative differences.

The Multiverse of Madness is the 28th movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s interesting that the first MCU movie, Iron Man, was released on May 2, 2008, so the premiere event of Multiverse of Madness was basically held on MCU’s 14th birthday. MCU star Hayley Atwell also attended the event, as well as Patrick Stewart, who will return as Professor X, reprising the role he played in the X-Men franchise between 2000 and 2017.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse already outsold every blockbuster movie of the year so far during the pre-sales, and it’s expected that it’s going to be one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. It is expected that the movie could gross around $200 million during the opening weekend, with an estimated $1.1 billion grossed worldwide during the theatrical run.

The first reviews for the movie are praising Raimi’s direction and his touch on the franchise, saying that movie is also action-packed with a lot of horror elements, but there is some criticism towards writing and plot holes, which isn’t really unusual for Marvel movies. We are waiting for the Rotten Tomatoes score to be revealed.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will open in theaters worldwide this Friday — May 6, 2022!
