Fans React to Reports of Josh Brolin Being Cast as Hal Jordan in the DCU – “This can’t be serious. They can’t be serious”

Recent rumors suggest that Josh Brolin may be making a move from the MCU to the DCU. Known for his roles as Thanos in the first few phases of the MCU and Cable in “Deadpool 2,” Brolin could be transitioning to the rival DC universe.

According to several industry insiders, Brolin is reportedly cast as Hal Jordan in the upcoming “Lanterns” TV show, which will focus on three prominent Green Lanterns: Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, and John Stewart.

This rumor matches earlier reports suggesting that the showrunners are seeking an older actor to portray Hal Jordan as a mentor-like figure. Although Brolin seems to fit the description of an older, more seasoned Hal Jordan well, fan reactions are mixed.

Major casting news for superhero roles typically generates a wide range of responses, and in this case, the feedback has been notably divided.

Finding a predominantly positive reaction has been challenging, as many fans are concerned that Brolin might be too old for the role of Hal Jordan. Earlier reports suggested that DC Studios was seeking white actors aged 43-49 for Hal Jordan, which already seemed on the edge of the character’s typical age. However, Brolin, at 56, is significantly older.

Casting an older Hal Jordan could imply potential issues, such as the character being written out early. Given that Brolin might struggle to sustain action roles over the next 10-15 years, and considering that Gunn is establishing a cinematic universe designed to last decades, this casting choice raises concerns.
