With less than two weeks to go until the release of ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ excitement is building. This film marks Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing as Captain America, and it also introduces Harrison Ford to the MCU as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will transform into Red Hulk over the course of the movie.

Red Hulk is a formidable force and one of the most notable Hulk villains, so fans were taken aback when it was confirmed that he would be facing off against Sam Wilson in this highly anticipated installment.

Harrison Ford commented on his role in the past. The actor previously claimed that he took on the role mostly due to money but found himself enjoying the work during production.

Ford was recently at a promo event for ‘Brave New World’ in London and he was asked whether he took some pointers from Mark Ruffalo regarding his portrayal of Red Hulk. Ruffalo has been playing Hulk himself for over a decade at this point and there’s no better person to ask regarding some tips.

Harrison Ford said that Mark Ruffalo wasn’t available to give him advice on playing Red Hulk, so he figured it out on his own. He joked about hoping Ruffalo isn’t disappointed with his performance.

No, he wasn’t available for consultation. I just had to wing it. I hope he’s not disappointed.

Ford was also asked about the fact that he is replacing William Hurt in the role. Hurt portrayed Thaddeus Ross in 5 MCU movies, 13 years in total until the actor passed away in 2022 forcing the role to be recast.

Harrison Ford said he wasn’t sure if replacing William Hurt in the MCU was similar to other actor replacements, like Alec Baldwin’s situation. However, he acknowledged that it was his job to step into the role and do it justice. He credited the script for making the character more complex and engaging, adding that he found the experience interesting, especially since it was his first time in a Marvel film.

Well, I’m not sure the parallel between Alec Baldwin and Will Hurt applies to what I’ve done but it then becomes your responsibility to fill out the shoes that have walked before you, and I had a lot of help from the script because the character’s life becomes more complicated, and interesting perhaps. The level of dramatic involvement here is very high. I had not been a part of a Marvel film before, but it was very interesting for me.
