Minecraft: Here’s How To Get Shaders on Xbox One
It’s a well-known fact that modding Minecraft is only possible and simple if you’re modding the Java Edition coded in Java. For Bedrock Edition players, and Xbox One players (who fall into this category) it can be challenging or even impossible to mod their gameplay experience without paying for it in the official Minecraft store so how do you get shaders in Minecraft for Xbox One?
Shaders overhaul how Minecraft looks
Shaders or also known as shaderpacks are basically mods that help you overhaul the entire look of your Minecraft world. Once you go Shaderpack, you can never go back. They can change the way lighting, shades, oceans, and the look of water, grass, leaves and so much more looks and feels. They can even add movement to grass.
Sometimes, shaders can help you get a better feel for how well your base is lit and what are some of the spots that are missing lighting and can actually still spawn hostile mobs without you having to double-check everything using the debug screen and looking at the light levels.
Shaders can cause FPS drops but they’re usually made in a way so that it doesn’t drop too low. If you’re experiencing a lot of trouble with FPS drops in your world with a shader you acquired, you might want to install OptiFine It’ll increase the FPS and help with graphics slightly as well even though Optifine isn’t a shader on its own.
Best Shaders for Minecraft Bedrock
Xbox One shaders don’t differ a ton from shaders for Minecraft Java Edition. There might be some that Bedrock doesn’t support but the best ones are still readily available. I personally use the BSL shaderpack in Minecraft Java and the shaderpack is available for Bedrock Edition as well. Without further ado, let’s see the best shaders for Minecraft Bedrock now that you know you can get them:
- BSL Shader – The shader has a soft and dull effect on the visuals of your game. It doesn’t take away from its iconic look all that much. The exception is water which is completely revamped with this shader.
- Continuum – The shader features amazing graphics but the most impressive thing about it is the realistic lighting and shadows.
- Oceano Shaders – As the name suggests, the shader mainly focuses on changing the look of water. You’ll get sweeping waves and warm colors in the evenings.
- Ebin Shaders – When you take a first glance at the shader, you’ll notice that it’s similar to the BSL shader but sharper, for lack of a better term. The emphasis of this shader is on the sky. The shader provides you with amazing and realistic-looking clouds.
Texture Packs vs, Shaders
People often confuse texture packs and shaders and consider them to be one and the same but it’s definitely not the case. Shaders are much more complex because they change graphical settings by dictating how the objects will behave in response to things like light, movement, and more.
Texture packs simply overlay pre-rendered images in your Minecraft world onto blocks in Minecraft worlds.
How to get shaders on Xbox One?
Getting shaders on Xbox One isn’t as difficult as a lot of people make it out to be. To get them, follow these steps.
- Download MC Addons Manager – to find the app press Y on your controller and type it in the search bar.
- Then, you will need to download the shaders. They have to be compatible with Xbox One so your primary focus should be looking for those. You can easily visit mcdlspot.com and search for the term console shaders, you can get tons of versions compatible with your console.
- Follow the download instructions for your specific shader. Usually, it should lead to a download page in Mediafire.
- You can then use the manager you downloaded to import the shaders you’ve downloaded. The MC addons manager has an import button when you enter it so it’s not difficult to do so.
- Restart Minecraft and go to Global Resources settings, then turn on the shader you downloaded.
Are there any Minecraft mods for Xbox One?
Unfortunately, mods, or at least what the general population considers a mod, do not exist and aren’t supported unofficially or officially. You can certainly tweak your gameplay experience in Bedrock but what you find in the official Minecraft store aren’t considered mods. That’s why they have a different name as well. They’re add-ons. The reason why Bedrock Edition doesn’t support them is because of the codebase upon which Minecraft Bedrock is built.
Is Raytracing and realistic Minecraft coming to Xbox One?
Raytracing is a shader that helps make your Minecraft world look more realistic by changing the way light reacts with different blocks. Light can reflect, be absorbed, and even scatter if the conditions are met and as a result, you get a more realistic version of Minecraft. Unfortunately, Ray Tracing is not yet available on consoles technically. You can have it in your world only if you’re playing multiplayer and the server you’re on is running on a Windows computer.
Additional steps need to be taken as well but eventually, Ray tracing should come to Minecraft for consoles. The same thing goes for realistic Minecraft. currently, The closest you’ll get to a realistic Minecraft experience is by downloading the Slidur shader pack but it doesn’t come close to what the real realistic Minecraft shader offers.
What does OptiFine have to do with shaders?
OptiFine gives you the support to download custom shaders and shaderpacks. It will also help stabilize your FPS in case the shaderpack you’re using is hard on your device otherwise. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about downloading it since OptiFine is only available for Java Edition Minecraft. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
