Skyrim: Here’s How To Marry Sapphire (Without Mods)

We’ve covered how to get divorced in Skyrim extensively in one of our previous guides. In today’s post, we’re going to be dealing with possible marriage options when it comes to one specific NPC. We’re talking about Sapphire. Sapphire is a member of the Thieves Guild and, apparently, a pretty desirable bachelorette. Sapphire is, however, not on the list of marriageable NPCs. Due to that, many fans of the game have been wondering, can you marry Sapphire in Skyrim, and if you can, how to do it?
Sapphire is a Rifte-based bachelorette
Sapphire is a Nord woman currently residing in The Ragged Flagon’s Cistern in Riften. Her class, as well as her profession, is Thief. The first time you meet Sapphire, she will be extremely rude to you, but as you get to know her better, you’ll find out that she has quite a tragic past.
She is involved in the quest “Stabilized,” which involves a local Redguard farmer named Shadr, who owes money to her.
There’s one more quest that can be done for Sapphire. It involves the only Thieves Guild member on Solstheim, Glover Mallory. Glover Mallory is Sapphire’s father, and you can deliver his letter to Sapphire to receive a modest reward from her.
Can you marry Sapphire in Skyrim?
Sapphire cannot be married in Skyrim through the usual means like some other NPCs. As a rule, no one from Thieves Guild is a potential marriage candidate, and thus, the dialogue option will never appear.
However, Sapphire has all the voice files needed for the marriage to happen; the only thing she’s missing is the marriage faction, and that can be fixed through the use of console commands.
How do you marry Sapphire with console commands in Skyrim?
You can marry Sapphire by using addfac 19809 command. This command will place her into the “marriage faction,” a faction where all potential marriage candidates are. Before we proceed with executing this command, I strongly recommend you talk to Shadr about his little problem with Sapphire. For some reason, while I was testing this command, If I hadn’t talked to Shadr first, it wouldn’t work.
What we’re going to do with these commands is, first, we’re going to set our relationship rank with her to appropriate levels, and then we’re going to add her to the marriage faction. To marry Sapphire with console commands, follow these steps:
- Find Sapphire. Depending on where you are in the Thieves Guild storyline, she can be found at two locations. You can find her at The Bee and Barb or Ragged Flagon-Cistern.
- Once you’ve approached Sapphire, exhaust all dialogue options you have with her.
- open the console by pressing “~”
- type Setrelationshiprank 000C19A5 4(The number represents Sapphire’s reference ID number.)
- type Player.Setrelationshiprank 000C19A5 4
- type addfac 19809 1
- If the option to marry her doesn’t appear right away, you’re going to have to reset her dialogue. You can do that through the use of the “disable/enable” command.
- Click on the Sapphire and type disable
- Exit the console and watch Sapphire disappear
- Re-enter the console again and type enable
- DON’T FORGET TO EQUIP AN AMULET OF MARA
- Sapphire should be enabled and visible once again, and you should have the dialogue option to marry her.
Once the marriage option has appeared you can proceed like with any other NPC. You need to talk to Maramal in the Temple of Mara and arrange a marriage.
Can Sapphire be a follower?
Sapphire cannot be recruited as a follower like regular eligible NPCs, but you can add her to the follower faction through the use of console commands. The process is a bit more complicated as it involves modifying her essential status as well as her aggression and confidence status. However, if you’re so hellbent on having her as a follower, it’s worth it. To make Sapphire a follower in Skyrim, follow these steps.
- Find Sapphire
- open the console by pressing “~”
- type Setrelationshiprank 000C19A5 4
- type Player.Setrelationshiprank 000C19A5 4
- type addfac 5C84D 1 (the number represents the follower faction)
- type setav aggression 1 (the number 1 means she will attack enemies on sight)
- type setav confidence 3 (if NPCs’ confidence is low enough, they will run away from a fight
- type setessential 000C19A3 (this will make your new follower functionally immortal)
- Reset the NPC dialogue with disable/enable again.
And that’s it; you’ve got a brand new follower. Please keep in mind that any tampering with the NPCs can cause your game to be unpredictable. Quests might fail, and certain NPC actions can get interrupted, as well as many other things. Before you modify your game with console commands, always make a backup of your save!
Can you tell Sapphire who her dad is?
Yes, you can tell Sapphire who her dad is, but you need to do a couple of things for Glover Mallory first. After you’ve done the “Paid in Full” quest, he will provide you with a key to his house.
Once there make your way to his basement, on a desk behind the locked door you will find an item called “Glover’s Letter”. You can deliver this letter to Sapphire. After an emotional reaction to the letter, she will reward you with exquisite sapphire – a flawless sapphire that’s worth 5000 gold.
That’s it. As you can see, while the game doesn’t allow you to marry Sapphire the usual way, you can always take things into your own hands with console commands. If you’re interested in more content related to the use of commands, check out our guide on enchanting with console commands!
