The Sims 4: Here’s How To Mentor Music

Share:

Careers in Sims 4 are quite important, and players always look for ways to ultimately make their Sims successful and accomplish their life goals. They earn money and go through their lives as best as possible. We already talked in our previous articles about how Maxis incorporated Careers in their games from the very beginning, and we decided to write another one that features the artistic side of Sims – the Music Skill and their ability to mentor other Sims. This article will explain how to mentor Music in Sims 4.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • To mentor music in Sims 4, your Sim needs to have Music and Art traits and have a career in music.
  • The traits will speed up the process of earning more and more experience in music, and the special tasks will appear the more your Sim levels up.
  • When you get to level 10 of guitar or piano skill, your Sim will have access to the “mentor” feature, which will be available if the other Sim is practicing the said instruments.
  • The same goes for guitars, pianos, and pipes, which are available in the special expansion pack.

Music Skill is just one of many skills you can choose to practice

Music skills or instrument skills are a variety of skills dealing with different instruments. During the Sims’ beginnings, this skill included only piano. However, the last few games saw added instruments like Guitar, Piano, Violin, and recently, as a part of The Sims4: Vampires expansion pack, Pipe Organ.

Each level presents new skills and expertise in playing various songs – the higher the level, the greater the difficulty of the songs. Of course, each instrument is available for playing with other Sims, providing you with Simoleons and the Instrument Skill.

Level 5 of the Instrument skills is the key as well – the player gets the ability to buy or read sheet music that Sims can practice on their instruments. Of course, grinding musical skills is quite easy but takes a lot of time in your Sims day. Creative and Virtuoso traits are the way to go if you want your Sim to be a full-fledged musical prodigy – the skill will increase faster, and your Sim will have more time to do other activities.

Challenges are important for gaining the aspiration points that will eventually be useful for purchasing the Mentor trait.

When playing music, your Sim will gain certain moodlets that will affect them positively most of the time. We did mention special traits for your Sim to level up in the musical skill faster, but the hobbies are also important in this particular case – at least when it comes to moodlets and Sims’ overall happiness. The Music lover is a trait that Sims game introduced in The Sims 4 game, giving Sims additional options when doing anything connected to music.

For example, if listening to music, music lovers will have the option to listen to music “deeply” and gain the “Inspired by music moodlet.” In combination with the Creative and Virtuoso traits, this is the best time for your Sim to practice their instruments and level up their musical skill.

When playing the instruments, Sims with a Music lover hobby trait will gain the +2 Happy moodlet; however, the same Sims will get the “Tense” moodlet if not listening or playing the music for an extended period. Furthermore, the Inspired mood of the Sim is a great time to “grind” their instrument skill even more.

Every skill in the Sims 4 has some challenges you could solve if you want your Sim to get aspiration points, which will positively impact your Sims’ lives. The musical skill also includes secret skills that are the ones that your Sims can gain with practice, and these are usually present when they are around level five or six in the skill levels or higher level of their musical career.

The hidden traits that are closely connected to the musical career include the Hidden Trait called Rocker, with which the Sim will get a natural feeling of rock stardom. When unlocked, this trait will allow your Sims to perform unique animations like air guitars and more randomly.

These traits are really cool and a subtle way to enrich the Sims experience. When it comes to the Music career, there are ten ranks of careers your Sims can eventually get to and become music stars. Your Sim will start as an entertainer and gain the ability to branch out to other careers by choice. When choosing the Musician career path, your Sim will level up and gradually unlock various songs, secret skills, hidden traits, and challenges that are useful for your Sims’ life’s happiness.

Ultimately, the highest career level is the Concert Virtuoso, which one gains when ranking ten in a musical career. Of course, now your Sim can earn extra money on the streets playing in front of the other Sims while playing in front of huge crowds every night. Another interesting fact in their musical career is that Sims can license their songs to level 8 of Piano skill.

Now that we have determined the details surrounding the musical skill in the Sims 4 game, we can move to the article’s main question.
