How did Anakin Skywalker survive the duel on Mustafar?

Shortly after Vader’s attack on the Jedi Temple, Vader returned to Padmé Amidala to comfort her and report on the current situation of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi. Leaving her perturbed and confused, Vader continued his mission by flying to Mustafar, where he was to assassinate the Separatist Council. Vader traveled to Mustafar and used Darth Sidious’ codes to get through Separatist security.

Vader left R2-D2 next to his ship so that his actions would never be witnessed or recorded. He entered the room containing the Separatist leaders and closed all the doors, preventing any member of the council from escaping. At first, the Separatist leaders welcomed him, until they recognized his face. To his surprise, the corrupted Vader began his massacre against the Separatist Council.

After murdering all the members, along with their guards in cold blood, Vader approached the last of them — Nute Gunray, Sidious’s former ally who had invaded and occupied Naboo before being defeated by Skywalker thirty years earlier, and who had attempted to assassinate Amidala on several occasions during the Clone Wars.

Before dying, Gunray pleaded for his life to Vader, stating that Lord Sidious had promised him peace. Despite Gunray’s pleas, Vader proceeded to kill him. His mission accomplished, Vader quietly left the room, awaiting his next instructions. Outside, in front of the sweeping volcanic terrain, Vader watched his transformation and convinced himself that it was all for the benefit of the Republic, though he still felt guilty for his actions, weeping with remorse.

At that moment, he remembered Sidious’s order to communicate with him as soon as the enemy had been defeated.

During his transmission, he thought about how suddenly he planned to switch gears and kill Sidious—as soon as he had figured out how to preserve Amidala’s life. Darth Sidious ordered Vader to send a message to the Trade Federation ships to order the Separatist Droid Army to disengage immediately before cutting off communication.

Seeing her wife’s ship arrive from her, Vader left the bunker to join her. After meeting with Amidala, Vader soon discovered that Obi-Wan Kenobi had informed him of his actions at the Jedi Temple. Although he did not deny the accusations, Vader claimed that Kenobi was only trying to turn her against him.

Amidala tried to reason with him and convince him to retire from public service with her to raise her child, but Vader wanted to go ahead with his plan to overthrow Palpatine and take her place. Shocked and horrified, Amidala refused, stating that Anakin had changed and chosen a path she could not follow.

Padmé pleaded with him to return to normal, promising that she still loved him. Unbeknownst to Amidala, however, Kenobi had infiltrated his ship to find Vader, at which point he appeared from the ship’s ramp. Seeing his former master, Vader incorrectly assumed that Amidala had betrayed him by bringing Kenobi to kill him.

Overcome by her anger and her fury, he Force-strangled her woman until she was unconscious, ignoring her pleas for her innocence. Kenobi also attempted to reason with his former apprentice, but Vader refused to listen, too consumed with hatred. After Kenobi concluded that he had no choice but to fight, Vader told him that he would try, and charged at his former teacher and friend.

Vader and Kenobi fought an intense duel throughout a mining complex and over the lava flow outside it. The fight ended on the bank of a lava river, where Kenobi jumped to its top to gain the upper hand, pleading with Vader to accept defeat and give up the fight. Overcome by his pride and his anger, Vader ignored his tactical disadvantage and attempted to leap at Kenobi, lightsaber poised for the kill, only to be struck by Obi-Wan’s weapon, severing his legs and his left arm.

Physically crippled, Vader attempted to climb up the bank of the lava river using his remaining cybernetic arm, but this only brought him closer to the lava. As he did so, Kenobi and Vader exchanged their parting words, Vader shouting his undying hatred of Kenobi while Kenobi, on the verge of tears, expressed his regret and disappointment that Anakin, the man he had loved like a brother, would have failed so miserably in his destiny to bring balance to the Force.

Shortly after, the lava ignited Vader’s clothing, burning his gravity body. Vader was practically immolated as he slid into the lava river. Kenobi took Skywalker’s lightsaber and left, leaving Vader for dead. Obi-Wan would keep the lightsaber until 0 BBY. As the flames died down, Vader was kept alive through the Force, with his unshakable will and determined to climb up the bank with his cybernetic arm, dealing with his grievous injuries.

Though Vader survived, he was left horribly disfigured, both physically and mentally, and his lungs damaged by the burning ashes in Mustafar’s air. Shortly thereafter, Darth Sidious, having sensed that Vader was in danger, arrived on Mustafar, where he found his apprentice critically injured, and took him to Coruscant in a medical pod.

As the newly appointed Emperor of the Galactic Empire could not afford to lose Vader, he turned to the best scientists, including Cylo, who gained private access to Vader’s cybernetic prostheses, and ordered them to create a life support suit. armor-like black. Upon regaining consciousness, Vader asked Sidious what had become of her wife, Padmé Amidala, and he told Vader that he had killed her in her anger.

Unbeknownst to them, Amidala had given birth to twins Luke and Leia before she died. Overwhelmed by his despair in believing that he had killed Amidala and her unborn child, fulfilling his visions of Amidala’s death, Vader destroyed the medical droids and damaged the room with the Force. . He broke his restraints from the operating table and struggled to walk in his new armor.

Vader’s despair turned to rage and he Force-slammed Sidious into a wall, growling that his master had promised to save Amidala. Sidious, as Vader tried unsuccessfully to choke him with the Force, replied that Amidala’s death had brought him a gift: pain. Sidious went on to give Vader a choice; accept the pain and use it as a gift or die.

After a moment, Vader replied that he would live. Sidious then immediately unleashed a bolt of Force lightning at him, and rhetorically asked Vader to use his lightsaber to defend against him. Vader replied that his lightsaber had been taken by Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of their duel. As he continued to attack, Sidious yelled that the weapon Vader spoke of was not his.

Instead, he belonged to a Jedi, and Vader was now a Sith. Finishing his attack on Vader, Sidious ignited his own lightsaber. He pointed the saber at Vader’s throat and told him that he understood that recent events had been traumatic for Vader, but if he used the Force against him again, he would finish what Kenobi failed to do.

Sidious then extinguished his lightsaber and stated that as friends he hoped they would never find themselves in a similar situation. He then asked Vader to take his rage away from the Jedi from now on, since they both had work to do.
