How Strong Is Mitsuri Kanroji (Compared to Other Demon Slayer Characters?)
When one decides to talk about Demon Slayer, one usually talks about the demon slayers themselves or the demons. And while the series has offered us a variety of other intriguing characters, we are going to talk about one specific Demon Slayer – Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira – in this particular article. Mitsuri is a very interesting character because she is odd and peculiar but extremely strong. Building on that fact, we have decided, in this article, to tell you a bit about her powers and abilities and how she would fare against numerous other characters from the Demon Slayer series.
The article is going to be divided into two major parts. The first one will represent Mitsuri Kanroji’s powers and abilities, while the other one will be a short comparison of Mitsuri Kanroji’s powers and abilities to the powers and abilities of other characters, divided into several subsections. These will not be detailed analyses, just brief comments so you can understand Mitsuri Kanroji’s position in the Demon Slayer lore.
Mitsuri Kanroji’s powers and abilities
Mitsuri is a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps and an extremely skilled swordsman. Kyojuro believes it extraordinary that she finished Final Selection after only six months of preparation. As the Love Hashira of the Corps, Mitrusi uses a specific love-based fighting style known as Love Breathing.
Mitsuri unknowingly awakened and acquired her Demon Slayer Mark, which appears as two upside-down hearts opposite each other (the hearts, on both sides where the two ends meet, also have small angel wings), near her neck, near her collarbone, while fighting against the Upper Rank Four, Hantengu, i.e., to be more specific, his hatred Demon, Zohakuten. When this appeared, Mitsuri’s physical strength, endurance, precision, and power sharply rose so much that she could battle Zohakuten on completely equal terms, even though he used his strongest techniques on her.
In addition to her body’s extreme physical strength and durability, Mitsuri also possesses incredible flexibility and great reflexes, being able to dodge and outrun attacks from the fourth Demonic Moon and use this constitution and this unique flexibility to launch powerful attacks. While she was just one year old, Mitsuri was already unbelievably strong, which enabled her carry heavy objects, some weighing around 120 pounds. This was also demonstrated while she was fighting against Muzan, as Mitsuri was able to grab one of the Demon’s tentacles and rip it out with her own hands without the need for a blade.
Despite suffering several wounds during her fight with Hantengu, she outlasted Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, and Genya Shinazugawa. She held him off long enough for the protagonists to win the battle. She can outrun the Upper Rank Four’s typical assaults in her fight with them, which forced the demon to activate his Demon Blood Art.
She gains even more speed after activating her Demon Slayer Mark. She is slower than some of her fellow Hasira, as evidenced in the fight with Muzan, where she finds it difficult to keep up with him and has to rely on luck and instinct to avoid being hit. This was unsuccessful since she took a number of hits and eventually had to leave the fight.
Mitsuri has a unique muscular composition that is eight times as dense as an average person’s. Even though her limbs are slim, they are incredibly strong and resilient, maintaining her body intact even after being directly attacked by the Upper-Rank Four, Hantengu. Mitsuri consumes up to three times as much as a sumo wrestler to maintain her body composition.
As for her Breathing Style, her primary one was Love Breathing, as we have said, which consists of the following forms:
Name | Description |
---|---|
First Form: Shivers of First Love | Mitsuri charges at her opponent using a barrage of sword swings. |
Second Form: Love Pangs | An elongated swing of the sword in the form of a whip with which she attacks her opponents. |
Third Form: Catlove Shower | Mitsuri jumps up and launches a series of ranged arching attacks one after another. |
Fifth Form: Swaying Love, Wildclaw | Kanroji does a somersault backwards while in the air and launches a long series of whip-like attacks. |
Sixth Form: Cat-Legged Winds of Love | Kanroji spins while upside down and thus launches a series of slashing attacks before going back and expanding again, all this in a very short amount of time. |
On top of that, because Rengoku trained her, she also learned Flame Breathing, but she never mastered it and did not use it anymore after developing her own Love Breathing Style.
How powerful is Mitsuri Kanroji compared to other Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba characters?
This section will compare Mitsuri Kanroji to another strong Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba characters. These are going to be brief comparisons whose main goal is to give you a general idea of his powers and abilities.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. Tanjiro Kamado
Well, this is intriguing, and we decided to start with it. Namely, when Tanjiro first met the Hashira, he was nowhere near their level, but as time passed, Tanjiro became very powerful. He even mastered the Sun Breathing Style, becoming one of a very small number of Demon Slayers who managed to master two different styles; incidentally, Mitsuri Kanroji is one other notable example, although she never mastered Flame Breathing.
Be that as it may, at the peak of his powers, Tanjiro probably managed to surpass Mitsuri in terms of skills but not in terms of physical power, which is why we have this one down as a draw.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. Hantengu
We always pick one specific Hashira to compare with a member of the Kizuki, and in Mitrusi’s case, we picked Hantengu, as the two of them fought in the Swordsmith Village Arc. Hantengu was not the strongest among the Twelve Kizuki, but his special ability made him a formidable opponent; on top of that, his clones could fuse and create an even stronger Demon, as Mitsuri herself experienced. But, with Mitrusi activating her Demon Slayer Mark, she was able to be on par with Hantengu, so we would say that she was somewhere on the level of an Upper-Rank Four, which is exceptional for a standalone Hashira.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. the remaining Hashira
This is a very versatile category, depending on whom Mitsuri would fight. We have estimated that Mitsuri was somewhere on the level of an Upper-Rank Four, which would give her the advantage over Sanemi, for sure, Tengen. However, it would be difficult to see how his speed would do against her strength and possibly Shinobu, although that one is unclear.
She is definitely not as strong as Gyomei and Obanai and probably not as strong as Muichiro, although this one is also very close. How she would do against Giyu and Rengoku is unclear, as we don’t have enough precise data to compare the three of them properly.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. Zenitsu
Zenitsu was able to defeat Kaigaku, and he would probably do relatively well against a Hashira, but he would lose to Mitsuri. It’s not a matter of skill here, as much as it is a matter of strength – Mitsuri is simply too powerful for Zenitsu, and despite all of his specific abilities, he would not be able to overpower her. On top of that, we have to add that Mitsuri is a much better swordsman than Zenitsu and has significantly more experience than him, which is why she could defeat him.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. Inosuke
On the other hand, unlike Zenitsu, Inosuke is much more similar to Mitsuri in both strength and skills. Inosuke is a very specific Demon Slayer and relies equally on strength and skills, but he lacks a tactical approach; he usually fights his opponents head-on without much thinking. This is what would ultimately give Mitsuri the advantage over him in a direct clash.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. Muzan
Muzan is the most powerful of all Demons and the creator of all the Demons that came after him. His weaknesses are the same as those of the other Demons, but his powers and abilities far surpass those of any other known Demon in the series. Using his powers, he has turned numerous people into Demons and has organized the most powerful ones in the Twelve Kizuki. And while Mitsuri Kanroji could fight off Hantengu, the Upper Level Four, in a one-on-one fight, she would not be able to do the same with Muzan.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. Kokushibo
From an objective standpoint, we have to confirm that Mitsuri was indeed a powerful fighter and physically imposing Demon Slayer, but we have seen in the manga, Kokushibo’s skills were far superior to those of the Hashira individually and had no trouble dealing with them when they were alone. And while four of them defeated him, Mitsuri alone would not stand too much chance against the Upper Moon One.
Mitsuri Kanroji vs. the remaining Twelve Kizuki
As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Mitsuri Kanroji was exceptionally powerful and skilled. She managed to hold off Hantengu’s fused Demon, which means she is somewhere on the level of an Upper-Rank Four, as we have said. This means that she could defeat all the lower-ranked Demons as well, but we also think that she could defeat Nakime. As for Akaza and Doma, we don’t think that she was on their level, at least not from the perspective of a one-on-one fight.
