Hisoka Morow is one of the most popular characters in anime history because he also has one of the most unique personalities. This person treads between chaotic and evil but is never necessarily evil. Out of all the Hunter × Hunter characters, Hisoka is by far the most interesting, and he genuinely has one of the best stories in the whole manga. In this article, we will talk about Hisoka’s personality and finally explain whether he likes Gon or not.

Hisoka does not like Gon in a romantic way, as he is not a pedophile; in fact, it is debatable whether Hisoka is even capable of having such feelings because he is a good example of a person with an antisocial personality disorder. He sees Gon as a potentially powerful opponent, i.e., a toy, and powerful opponents are, for him, a very pleasurable experience which is why he reacts to them the way he does.

The remainder of this article will give you a detailed overview of Hisoka Morow’s relationship with Gon, as it happened on the pages of the Hunter × Hunter manga. You already know the gist of the issue, so we will just bring you the details so you know the whole context. Be careful, though, as the article will contain many spoilers, so if you don’t know all the details, be careful how you approach the text.

Hisoka Morrow is not a pedophile. He is a psycho

Hisoka was initially introduced as an antagonist, but due to his odd, if not peculiar, attitude and intentions, he eventually straddled the line between an antagonist and a supporting protagonist. He was introduced as a person of extraordinary strength who participated in the Hunter Exam and subsequently attained the status of Hunter. Also, he had always been a bit of a weirdo, so it was unclear at first why he decided to become a Hunter.

However, as the show progressed, it became apparent that he was attracted to both Gon and Killua, albeit he expressed greater interest in Gon. Gon was already strong enough to pass the Hunter exam at the age of twelve. Hisoka was attracted to him and even expressed interest in the boy during the entire ordeal. And this is why, naturally, a lot of people thought that Hisoka Morow liked Gon, implying, thus, that he was a pedophile. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Namely, it becomes apparent later in the anime that Hisoka has a strong attraction to those that are strong and powerful. He is constantly searching for someone who is just as strong as he is, if not stronger, so that he may enjoy the fight. He craves a good fight. While Hisoka is a very strong person, he hasn’t engaged in many battles that have genuinely given him the thrill he desired in life. However, Hisoka only started taking an interest in him when he saw that Gon, even at the age of 12, was already displaying promise as a strong fighter. This is why he was also attracted to Killua.

Hisoka was particularly fascinated by Gon and even Killua because they were already displaying promise for people their age. They were already fairly strong at age twelve, and Hisoka was eager to see how far they could go as they grew older. And Gon’s ability to unleash his full potential by acting like an adult in his battle with the Royal Guard Neferpitou, whom he was able to utterly dominate, demonstrated that he had the potential to grow to be quite powerful. This is why Hisoka wanted Gon and Killua to survive into adulthood so that they could become even stronger and thus present a challenge for him later on.

Now, because Hisoka is, indeed, a psycho, his reactions fooled a lot of fans into thinking that he was a pedophile, whereas he has nothing to do with it. Namely, Hisoka’s obsession with strong opponents is a reflection of his somewhat psychotic or even psychopathic personality. This is a very twisted mindset that normal people cannot really understand, and in line with that, his reactions are also a bit psychotic as well. Namely, it does seem like Hisoka reacts in an almost orgasmic way to a strong opponent, whether he is a 12-year-old boy or a fully grown adult; that doesn’t matter to Hisoka, as there is nothing sexual in his attraction to them, it is purely a morbid desire to prove his strength. And while his reactions might seem sexualized, this is only done to increase their effectiveness and to better illustrate (portray) Hisoka as a character.

Now, knowing this, we can explain properly how Gon fits into this mold and how he is related to Hisoka in the series.

Hisoka Morow does not like Gon, he just wants to fight him and defeat him

We have now cleared up that Hisoka Morow does not like Gon and that he is not a pedophile, which means that he has absolutely no romantic feelings toward Gon. Hisoka was particularly interested in Gon and Killua as well, as we have said, because, despite their young ages, they were already displaying promise. Hisoka was enthusiastic about how far they could go once they matured because they were already extremely powerful at the age of 12. This absolutely confirms that there is nothing, not even a bit, sexual in the relationship between Hisoka and Gon, or any other character for that matter.

A lot of fans also believed that Hisoka was actually grooming Gon. He sparred with Gon a few times throughout the series but never went toe-to-toe with the little child and was always content to wait for him to become stronger. Although Hisoka’s controversial nature is undoubtedly his most divisive trait, we can confirm that he has never groomed Gon and has no such intentions with him.

Knowing Hisoka, he is most likely training with Gon to make him even stronger so that it would be a bigger challenge for him later on in life. He never, however, engaged in any form of sexual grooming with Gon. Hisoka simply desired the boy’s growth so that he might become a future challenge for him in combat. Despite the fact that Hisoka is attracted to powerful individuals, he never trained Gon for any sexual purposes, and that clears everything up.

Hisoka sees Gon as a potential rival and as a challenge. And that is all there is to it. He never had any romantic feelings towards him and sees him purely as a toy that he could fight with later in life, thus proving his strength. Knowing Hisoka’s personality, it is debatable whether he can even have any romantic feelings towards anyone, as he has a very psycho(path)ic personality with a limited emotional spectrum. On top of that, he is a narcissist and cares mostly for himself, which is why he is not the ideal candidate for any type of romantic ship, let alone one that is so cursed, such as this one. So no, to conclude, Hisoka does not like Gon, and there are no romantic feelings between them.
