And while the Jujutsu Kaisen series has given us many characters, two protagonists have been attracting attention since their debut, and since they are the focus of the current anime mini-arc, we will explain their relationship in more detail. They are, of course, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. Knowing their shared history, we cannot but wonder whether Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo are more than just friends since their relationship is certainly more than friendly. In that aspect, we have decided to write this article to reveal whether Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo are in love and what kind of relationship they have.

Officially, Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo are not in love with each other, and this is just a fan theory. The two of them were classmates and were, along with Ieiri, very close because there were only three of them. They are like brothers, the two of them, and while there is certainly a very deep bond between them, it doesn’t seem likely that they actually romantically loved each other. Gege Akutami has never confirmed this, so there is basically no basis for this claim, and as far as the canon is concerned, Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo are not in love. They are just very close friends.

The rest of this article will explore Satoru Gojo’s relationship with Suguru Geto while focusing, in particular, on the nature of their relationship and whether they are in love with each other or not, which is also the main and principal question of this article. If you’re not fully up-to-date with the events of Jujutsu Kaisen, this article might contain some important spoilers, but we have to state that no new information will be presented here, as we will focus on old and well-known facts about the two of them.

As far as the canon is concerned, Gojo and Geto are simply close friends

Satoru Gojo, the series’ most popular character, is often a topic of numerous debates and discussions. Most of them focus on his powers and abilities, but his private life and personality. This article is going to focus on the latter. Namely, if you go around the Internet, you’ll notice that one of the burning questions related to Gojo and his relationship with Suguru Geto, his friend, and classmate, has often been the focus of the discussions related to Gojo’s sexuality. Before we actually explain it, we will do what we always do in these types of articles – explain the characters’ personalities in question.

Satoru is a complex person since he normally behaves casually and cheerfully with his students and coworkers but coldly and cruelly with the elders in the jujutsu community. He nonchalantly dismissed Ryomen Sukuna’s personal threats and asserted that even if it proved to be a difficult battle, he could overcome the Plague King because of his reputation as a strong jujutsu sorcerer.

He is quite confident in his skills and abilities. Satoru can remain composed under pressure. When he feels that sacrifice is inevitable, he will put his adversaries’ destruction above preserving the innocent.

And while he will do what he has to win a fight, Satoru Gojo is a character who will not harm innocent people for his own gain. Despite his arrogance and power, Satoru is actually more human than he initially appears and is saddened by the death of the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai.

Suguru quickly convinced him against doing so after he wondered whether murdering the offenders might not be preferable. Satoru was visibly horrified and afraid after learning that Suguru Geto, his best friend, and former classmate, had become an enemy who wanted to destroy humanity.

Years later, after trying in vain to reason with him, he was forced to put his friend’s life in danger. This incident forever changed him because it contributed significantly to his fall in Shibuya.

He was likewise disappointed to discover Yuji was “dead.” Satoru wants to use education to change the jujutsu community’s dogmas and bring about reform. He wants to educate young jujutsu sorcerers and create a more inclusive society.

On the other hand, Suguru is a skilled combatant and troublemaker. Suguru is a person who is aware of his high status but who also knows how to be respectful and humble. He may also be conceited; before becoming a Curse user, he and Satoru considered themselves the “strongest” pair.

He despises non-sorcerers and refers to them as “primate” monkeys because, like the Curses, he does not regard human lives and feels hatred for them. He believes that the sorcerers represent the master race and the advancement of humanity. On the other hand, Suguru loves his fellow curse users dearly and considers his commanders his own family.

Although he typically expresses this in one of his deceptive sides, Suguru is even courteous to sorcerers. After overcoming Yuta Okkotsu’s classmates, Suguru wept and expressed his happiness at witnessing young sorcerers cooperating to protect one another, saying that his goal was gradually coming true.

He had positive ethical views on exorcists when he was still a student at the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, and he firmly thought that sorcerers were there to defend the weak or those who could not wield black energy.

However, things started to alter after the passing of Riko Amanai. Astral Cult members cheered the latter’s death, a despicable behavior that stuck in Suguru’s mind. He decided to refrain from killing them because the sorcerers wouldn’t understand.

Then, after speaking with Yuki Tsukumo, he realizes that sorcerers sacrifice their lives for the helpless when they use curses and that people who lack Black Energy create these curses. As a result, he starts to believe that eliminating people who lack Black Energy would stop the spread of other curses.

As you can see, the two of them have very different personalities, especially in adulthood. They had a close bond when they were classmates, and they were very close friends, but despite the fans insisting on it, they were not in love. At least not officially. The two of them understood each other and had a very interesting dynamic between them, but that was it.

By all means, Gojo was probably in love with Utahime, while Geto was never actually given a romantic interest; in fact, Geto didn’t seem to take an interest in romance at all.

This is why we can, as far as the current canon is concerned, confirm that Geto and Gojo were not in love and that Akutami never actually confirmed anything similar about them. They were close and had a very close bond, but it was not romantic in nature, as the two seemed more like brothers than actual friends. This is what the current canon states and what we can conclude about this issue.
