Jujutsu Kaisen: Here’s What Happens to Hana Kurusu!

Regarding the characters of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the more interesting additions to the cast is Hana Kurusu, a female in a symbiotic relationship with Angel, an incarnated sorcerer from ancient times. Her situation is completely similar to Yuji’s and Megumi’s about Sukuna, but unlike Sukuna, Angel is not a vile villain but a benevolent sorcerer. Hana Kurusu will play a major role later in the series. In this article, we have decided to tell you what happened to her in Jujutsu Kaisen and her current status in the series.

Hana Kurusu was almost killed when Sukuna became free

In one of our earlier articles, we have already discussed Hana Kurusu as an important character in the series, as we have told you who she was, what she was like, and how important she was in the Culling Game Arc and later in the series. This is why we won’t be repeating all these notions here, as we will focus on what happened to her in the story, revealing where she is now and what is going on with her at the time of writing.

We are aware that she met Angel at some point throughout the narrative; while the specifics are unknown to us, the two appeared to click and formed a team whose mission was to aid others; although Angel always puts her safety before that of others, even if her objective is to protect those around her.

Hana initially appears in the narrative during the Culling Game when she is shown aiding people while floating among the “arenas.” Megumi Fushiguro was so tired after fighting Reggie Star that Hana Kurusu immediately approached him, offering to assist him. However, catastrophe soon struck when Sukuna took control of Megumi’s body by using her state to occupy it. Hana was then gravely hurt by his unexpected attack. She did, of course, live, but the damage was severe, and it wasn’t until Yuta brought her to Shoko Ieiri that she fully recovered.

Since Hana Kurusu’s skill, known as Jacob’s Ladder, could negate every other known technique—including the Prison Realm—we know that the protagonists went looking for her, as she was their only chance at saving Gojo. Because Hana Kurusu’s technique could free Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm, she was the ideal rescuer for him.

Hana Kurusu did consent to assist them, but only on the condition that Sukuna be killed beforehand. That made sense at the moment, even though it was risky because killing Sukuna required murdering Yuji because Sukuna was still inside of him at the time. Naturally, this changed when Hana Kurusu saw what Sukuna had done to Megumi and when she experienced the destructive power of Sukuna’s cursed energy. Upon grasping the gravity of the situation, she activated Jacob’s Ladder and released Gojo.

And this is more or less it. Hana Kurusu was close to completely extinguishing Sukuna with Angel’s technique, but Sukuna forced her to stop using it for a moment, and that was enough for him to almost kill her. She survived and is currently observing the fight against Sukuna, probably ready to intervene if necessary. She is alive and well at the moment, but seeing how Akutami is writing a very messy story, we cannot predict what could happen to her in the future or what her role in the final chapters will be.

It could be that she survives and helps bring Sukuna down, but it could also be that Akutami simply kills her off like he did to so many characters in the current manga arc. We simply don’t know at the moment.
