Toji Foshiguro is unique in many ways; this is a fact that all fans of Jujutsu Kaisen know well. He was born with a Heavenly Restriction, but despite that, he managed to become so powerful that he defeated even Satoru Gojo once while Gojo was still a student. This shows just how powerful he was and how dangerous he was. Toji reappeared once again in Shibuya and was able to defeat and exorcise Dagon almost effortlessly, which is why fans are interested in his story once again. In this article, we are actually going to elaborate on why he is so strong and generally overpowered in the series.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Due to being born with a Heavenly Restriction, Toji’s cursed energy was cut to zero, but he gained superhuman skills as compensation. On top of that, he is a weapons expert.
  • Aside from that, he possesses a lot of knowledge about the jujutsu society and can use this as a trick in battle, making himself even more dangerous.

Toji is so powerful because he has the knowledge and the means to use that knowledge

As we have said and explained to you, Toji Fushiguro is a unique combination, a character that stands out in every way imaginable. He is a villain, but unlike Geto, Kenjaku, or Sukuna, he has absolutely no cursed energy and has – in such a state – been able to defeat and almost kill both Gojo and Geto. On top of that, later in the series, he managed to exorcise Dagon effortlessly. So, how is a human with zero cursed energy that strong? Well, two factors influence that fact.

The first factor is Toji’s Heavenly Restriction. Heavenly Restriction refers to a Binding Vow (or restriction) imposed from birth and not the product of choice. They greatly limit the physical capabilities of persons who receive them, yet the advantages they offer are still great compared to the cost.

Toji was born into the Zenin Clan with a heavenly restriction, much like Maki sometime later. Still, unlike Maki, who managed to retain a certain (albeit low) amount of cursed energy, Toji’s level of cursed energy was sucked out completely, and he had zero cursed energy in him.

But, as we have said, Heavenly Restriction have him a very big advantage as well – despite taking his cursed energy, it made him into a powerhouse character, as his physical skills far surpassed those of a regular human. He was strong, resilient, and exceptionally durable in battle, and on top of that, he became a weapons master in the meantime. This means that he was skilled in every type of combat, which is exactly why he was such a tough character who was almost impossible to defeat.

But, aside from his obvious physical skills, Toji Fushiguro was also a genius. He was a quick learner, and he left his family home after learning a lot about the secrets of the jujutsu world. He later did find some peace, but it was short-lived. He is able to come up with the most elaborate of plans, and his tactical approach can only be praised. When he defeated and almost killed Gojo, it was Toji’s tactical approach that helped him win; he was helpless the second time around. That cannot be denied, but he was fighting Gojo, and that speaks for itself.

So, as you can see, Toji Fushiguro is a truly unique character. The fact that he has absolutely no cursed energy, which is a rare occurrence per se, makes him special, but while we can acknowledge that, the fact that he was able to defeat Gojo and Get in the same day says just how much and why he is so powerful.

Oh, and another thing. If you’re wondering about a way to defeat him, we can confirm that he is not invincible; Toji can be defeated, but it requires a lot of skill, which is why not many characters were ultimately able to do anything against him. He is a genius, and he is powerful, and that combination has proved itself to be fatal on more than one occasion. And that is, more or less, it.
