Jujutsu Kaisen: Kenjaku’s 10 Best Quotes from the Anime & Manga
Alongside Sukuna, Kenjaku, who is currently still disguised as Pseudo-Geto even though his cover has been blown, is the main villain of Jujutsu Kaisen, and from what we can understand, there is an epic clash waiting for us in the future. However, it remains to be seen how Akutami will execute that aspect. Now, Kenjaku has been present from the very beginning of the series, and in this article, we have decided to explore his story a bit. He is an exceptionally interesting character; in that aspect, he certainly deserves to be analyzed and explored.
This list will include a total of the best 10 Kenjaku quotes you need to know from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime and manga. The quotes are taken from various contexts and situations, and we have decided to list them here for you and also explain the context and the meaning a bit.
1. “Regret, huh? I’ve forgotten what that feels like.”
Probably the most epic and recognizable Kenjaku quote from the whole series. This quote embodies what Kenjaku was in the series, as well as what his personality was! Kenjaku became popular with some fans because of his specific approach to life, as well as his plans, so this quote makes sense, seeing how he really did not regret anything he did in the series. This is why we decided to start off this list with this famous line.
2. “You theorized that the soul came before the body… but the body IS the soul, and the soul the body. Otherwise, this phenomenon of the body’s memories entering my mind even after changing hosts can’t be explained. (…) So, techniques dictate our worlds, huh? Heh heh… (…) I like that. It’s poetic.”
This quote was actually a reply to Mahito in Shibuya, not long after the Incident started. After Geto tried to kill Kenjaku, fighting from inside his body, Geto and Mahito discussed the nature of the soul, as they had a different approach to the issue. Mahito then concluded that it all depends on the person and that there is no universal rule, which Kenjaku liked.
3. “C’mon now, Satoru. Are you letting your mind wander during a fight?”
This was a tease on Kenjaku’s side. Namely, when Kenjaku appeared in Geto’s body, Gojo – who knew that he had killed his best friend in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 – was confused: he saw Geto, and it felt like Geto, but he knew it was not Geto. This confused him for a moment, so Kenjaku decided to use the opportunity to tease him and his concentration during the fight. Why? Because that’s who Kenjaku is.
4. “Yeesh! How’d you know?”
This was said to Gojo in Shibuya when the latter deduced that it must be a trick because he was certain he was not again facing Geto. Kenjaku then decided to admit it was a “trick” and revealed his true form, his brain, inside Kenjaku’s dead body. He did not reveal his name to Gojo then, but Gojo got confirmation that he was right.
5. “Makes sense. It’s a shame to bow out before I finish… but my will will be passed on!”
Kenjaku’s seemingly final words are from the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. Kenjaku is seemingly dead, but he left a cryptic message before he died. What does it all mean? We don’t know yet, as Akutami has yet to properly address the issue of Kenjaku’s death in the manga.
6. “You want me to reveal my Cursed Techniques to Yuki Tsukumo. I’ve only been manipulating low-level cursed spirits, but perhaps even that is unnecessary. Because you’re all failed creations.”
This was said to Choso when the latter was with Yuki, protecting Tengen. Kenjaku had not given it his all in that battle, that is true, and this reply actually shows just how slick and dangerous he was as a character and why he was such a threat despite never being as straightforward in his aggression as Sukuna.
7. “Shall I save you, Mahito?”
One of the most recognizable quotes uttered by Kenjaku was said to Mahito when he was about to be killed by Yuji. Mahito knew that Kenjaku wanted to absorb him, and he tried to kill him, but he failed. Kenjaku’s “help” was nothing but a ruse, as he simply wanted his powers for himself, seeing how they were part of his general plan. Mahito died, and Kenjaku thus gained another curse for his gallery.
8. “No. It lies in optimizing cursed energy.”
When Yuki arrived in Shibuya, she immediately faced Kenjaku; she knew he was not Geto, but she addressed Geto when speaking to the villain. Yuki reminded Geto of their earlier conversation and how they both wanted an identical world, but Kenjaku simply replied that she was wrong and that his plan was better. So far, it seems that he is not going to succeed, but this was also a major moment in the series.
9. “Even I’m impressed. Sukuna’s vessel is tough.”
Kenjaku was not easily impressed, that is certain. With so much experience, it makes sense that he has seen a lot, but Itadori was something special, with and without Sukuna. It amused Kenjaku despite the fact that Itadori was not a major part of his plans.
10. “Are you listening, Sukuna? It is beginning once again. The world of Heian. The Golden Age of Cursed Techniques!”
We decided to end this list with Kenjaku’s announcement to Sukuna. This happened when the Shibuya Incident was basically over, and it foreshadowed Kenjaku’s dangerous Culling Game, which would become the next major arc in the series. It remains to be seen whether the plan will succeed, as the fights are still over, but Kenjaku did make an important step towards it.
