Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Ends with Chapter 63: Start Reading the Manga from Chapter 64!
Jujutsu Kaisen is a shōnen manga by Gege Akutami, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in March 2018. An animated series adaptation produced by studio MAPPA aired between October 2020 and March 2021. The prequel manga Jujutsu Kaisen 0 also received an adaptation in the form of an anime film that aired in December 2021. Jujutsu Kaisen is considered to be among the best and most complete modern-day anime series, and with just 24 episodes released so far, one cannot but wonder how the series is structured in relation to the manga.
This article will focus on the upcoming second season and the manga content that will be adapted into it. Namely, we know that Chapter 63 was the final chapter adapted in Episode 24 of the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen; the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 adapted the prequel manga, so it is of no importance to this article. The manga is currently on Chapter 217, and in this article, we are going to focus on what happens from Chapter 64 afterward, as we are going to tell you what you can expect from the series starting with Chapter 64, from which you should start reading if you want to know what happens.
The plot of Jujutsu Kaisen after Chapter 63
Intriguingly enough, the plot first starts with the short Gojo’s Past Arc, which takes us back in time to explore the life of Satoru Gojo. Utahime Iori and Mei Mei discover themselves on a mission in a western-style mansion in the spring of 2006. When they examine the hallways, they see that they are stuck because of the curse’s peculiar capacity to swap out sections of the hallways as they pass. Both conclude that the only way to defeat this strategy is to disperse to confuse the adversary and whoever gets to escape first must save the other.
Satoru Gojo, who arrived at the location to save his friends, is revealed to be the person responsible for the mansion’s collapse from the outside. Mei is uninjured, and Utahime collapses to the ground as a result. Utahime is furious at Gojo for getting involved, and he makes fun of him by saying that he is weak. A powerful curse materializes behind Utahime’s back as she grumbles that she didn’t ask him for assistance. Suguru Geto appears right away and defeats the new foe in a matter of seconds. He then commands Gojo to avoid bothering those who are lesser than him.
With Chapter 80, we are back in the present with the infamous and extremely important Shibuya Incident Arc, which defined much of what happened later in the series. On October 19, 2018, Gojo dreamed of meeting Megumi for the first time and their conversation that day while he was sleeping. Gojo wakes up at the arrival of Yuji, Megumi, and Gojo and directs them to Utahime’s location. When Utahime and the three of them finally connect, she informs them of the school mole and the plan for their investigation of Kokichi Muta.
Miwa and Mechamaru discuss the notebook they must turn in at the Kyoto school. Mechamaru informs her that she is leaving him and will sleep for a while. Miwa ponders the whereabouts of the actual Mechamaru when Mechamaru falls asleep. Utahime tells Nobara, Yuji, and Megumi about Kokichi’s capacity to use cursed energy elsewhere.
They discover that the room Kokichi should have been in is empty and learn that he is elsewhere. Kokichi finds Geto and Mahito in a completely different room. Geto replies that they wouldn’t do that because Kokichi is aware of the negative effects of the cursed restriction when Kokichi says that he thought they had forgotten him.
Mahito advises that they should simply eliminate Kokichi since they have the necessary information. Still, Geto responds that due to the rules of their Binding Vow, the first thing they must do to Kokichi is heal him. As Mahito suggests that Kokichi display some enthusiasm, Kokichi responds that he won’t until his business is concluded.
The Shibuya Incident arc was a very long one, and a lot of things happened, including the sealing of Satoru Gojo, the death of Nanami, and the awakening of Ryomen Sukuna. It led to another shorter arc, the Itadori’s Extermination Arc. As a result of the Shibuya Incident, Japan was plunged into turmoil and experienced a political vacuum because no one knew what had happened to government officials during the tragedies that had transpired. It is argued that making the Tokyo Metropolitan Area an evacuation zone would help prevent the spread of new curses there.
Just the area around Okutama is presently habitable, despite reports that a total of 23 cities were devastated. The country’s remaining buildings will be used to evacuate at least 5 million people. A girl is dining inside a store when she notices a peculiar shadow and cries out to it in another area of Tokyo.
The girl chooses to assist whoever is in front of her. Yet when a curse comes, she tries to murder the person. The curse is instantly broken as soon as Yuta Okkotsu, a special-grade Jujutsu sorcerer, arrives on the scene. To learn more about the girl’s relatives and gain permission to take her with them, Okkotsu tries to converse with her.
The curse tries to assault again in the middle of the conversation, but Rika is in charge of ending it. The girl appears to recognize something is off, and Okkotsu chastises Rika for using excessive force. Later, the members of the Jujutsu General Supervision Department meet with Okkotsu.
The Jujutsu sorcerer receives praise from the authorities for his dedication to casting out curses and sanitizing the nation’s streets. Okkotsu declares that he will obey their stated orders while displaying apathy. Okkotsu’s employment with them is suspected by one of the department’s members. Because Yuji Itadori is said to have caused Toge Inumaki to lose a portion of his arm in Shibuya, Okkotsu claims that he is a student of Satoru Gojo also promises that he will be responsible for ordering Yuji Itadori’s execution.
Of course, Yuta did not execute Itadori; Yuta is quite loyal to Gojo, and there was no way that he would go against Itadori, but he had to keep up appearances. Since this is not a spoiler article, we won’t be going any further with this guide. This is a short overview of some main events after Chapter 63.
Of course, the second season won’t be adapting all of these events, but most of them will be seen, along with all the details from them that we have intentionally left out. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 starts in July, and until then, you can enjoy this little preview to know what to expect and, of course, watch the movie and the first season to refresh your memory so that you can continue to watch the new episodes without actually wondering what happened in the last few episodes of the anime series.
