Mei Mei is a character that was introduced early in the story, and her story is quite interesting, but we did not know until the Shibuya Incident Arc that Mei Mei also had a younger brother called Ui Ui. Ui Ui is Mei Mei’s younger brother, and while he is a young boy, he looks a lot like Mei Mei and has identical hair to her, albeit shorter.

His personality is quite interesting, as it is very similar to Mei Mei’s. They both have a specific way of talking and behaving around others, but they also seem very loyal to each other. Ui Ui holds his sister in very high regard and seems to think that she is the best and most special person in the world; that is why he is so loyal to her.

Ui Ui belittled Satoru Gojo when he implied that Gojo considered Mei Mei as a “bench player,” even though Mei Mei said to him that Gojo was indeed special; he did not care. He simply argued that Mei Mei was special, too. They had this talk in front of a bewildered Itadori, who couldn’t really understand that aspect of their relationship, especially since he himself felt like a useless “commoner” in front of them.

He also seems to enjoy Mei Mei’s praise as well, although he sometimes acts as if he doesn’t believe her praises, only to get more of her praises. He also considers himself as a guardian of Mei Mei, although she is significantly stronger than him; this is why he warned Itadori to keep quiet while Mei Mei was using her Black Bird Manipulation technique and was annoyed when Mei Mei told him that Yuji could talk, as it did not bother her. He is absolutely loyal to her and is always by her side.

As for his own powers and abilities, he is quite a powerful jujutsu sorcerer, but he is not particularly active on the battlefield due to his young age. However, he has participated in both the Shibuya Incident Arc and the Culling Game.

Due to being Mei Mei’s relative, we know that he has an unusually high amount of cursed energy, and although he is not able to manipulate it with much skill, his control over it is enough to distract the Smallpox Deity during its fight with its sister, which helped Mei Mei win the fight. Interestingly enough, he also has a Binding Vow with his sister, which consists of him agreeing to limit his cursed energy input until she permits him to use jujutsu. The reason why he made this Binding Vow was because he wanted to please his sister.

He also seems to have a very powerful Innate Technique, although its name has not been revealed, and we have little to no information about it. We know that it allowed Mei Mei and him to escape a battle by transferring them from Japan to Malaysia, and it was also used as a liaison with Maki Zenin during the Culling Game, which indicates that it was quite powerful.

Finally, during the Shibuya Incident, it was revealed that Ui Ui was already able to use the New Shadow Style: Simple Domain, as he created a Simple Domain to effectively counter the Smallpox Deity’s domain when he and Mei Mei fought the powerful curse released by Kenjaku.

Ui Ui’s overall role in the story is not that big, which isn’t such a surprise, seeing how he is just a young boy. But, despite that, he is not a liability to Mei Mei; rather – he is a very big help. Allow us to tell you about an example from the story.

What Are Ui Ui & Mei Mei Carrying with Them? Ui Ui’s role in the Shibuya Incident Explained!

If you remember the second episode of the Shibuya Incident anime adaptation, you’ll know that Ui Ui was carrying around a large object for Mei Mei; the object was covered with a piece of cloth, and it was initially hidden, but it was soon revealed to be Mei Mei’s Battle Ax, an extremely powerful weapon that Mei Mei used during the incident.

Ui Ui was carrying it for his sister to please her, and that was not the only help he provided for her. During the Indicent, he helped Mei Mei defeat the extremely powerful Smallpox Deity and when they actually faced trouble, he used his ability to transport them – off-panel – from Japan to Malaysia, thus saving their lives.

As the manga shows, the two of them ended up in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur, after which Mei Mei contacted Japan. Later, during the Culling Game, he also used his abilities to contact Maki Zenin, thus demonstrating just how powerful and useful he is despite his young age. At this moment, he is still unable to become a professional jujutsu sorcerer, but his potential is enormous, and in the future, he will certainly become one.
