A Bright Future Awaits Kamala Khan, Who Is Being Hailed as the “Peter Parker of This Generation”

Kamala Khan’s journey, both in the comics and the MCU, has been tumultuous recently. The character faced death and resurrection, now reintroduced as a mutant—a move that has faced criticism from comic fans who felt it reflected MCU influence rather than the other way around.
Now, with a new X-Men series on the horizon, Kamala Khan is poised to take center stage. ‘NYX’, a fresh series focusing on mutants, has just launched, written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, with artwork by Francesco Mortarino.
With Xavier’s school and Krakoa both gone, mutants are set to descend on New York City, regardless of whether the city is prepared. The new ongoing series ‘NYX’ tracks a group of former X-Men students as they face young adulthood, discrimination, and threats that seek to escalate human-mutant tensions.
Echoing the groundbreaking 2000s series, ‘NYX’ tackles the harsh realities for mutants now stripped of X-Men guidance and Krakoa’s protection. The series highlights iconic and fan-favorite mutants adjusting to a world filled with bigotry and mistrust, as they work to evolve despite internal conflicts and their struggle to let go of Krakoa.
At this year’s SDCC, Lanzing described Kamala Khan as this generation’s Peter Parker, a sentiment we find quite compelling.
Kamala Khan’s future in the MCU looks promising as she is slated to appear in several upcoming projects, including ‘Marvel Zombies’ and, of course, ‘The Young Avengers,’ a project she initiated on the big screen.
The launch of the mutant era in the MCU further supports Lanzing’s claim. As one of the first confirmed mutants in the MCU, Ms. Marvel is poised to become a key figure among the characters in the future.
