Kathryn Newton Describes ‘Quantumania’ as “The Easiest Job of Her Life”

Over a year ago, Phase 5 began with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’ Fans were excited about the Multiversal Saga, especially with the introduction of Kang the Conqueror as a new main villain for the next phases.

However, the movie didn’t perform well commercially or critically. It received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. While some praised Jonathan Majors’ portrayal of Kang as an exciting villain, others felt the film didn’t capture the same spark and fun as its predecessors.

It’s been 14 months since the release, and Kathryn Newton, known for her role as Cassie Lang, also known as Stature, described the movie as the simplest job she’s ever had during an interview with CinePOP. When questioned about the difference between working on the horror film ‘Abigail’ and the third Ant-Man movie, Newton expressed her views:

I think the Marvel movie, actually. But I don’t know… This was, physically, actually harder than Ant-Man. Ant-Man was the easiest job of my life. It was really fun… And this one was just as fun, but it was different. We had a real set, we had real props, real people. So whatever inspiration you get is from what’s happening right in front of you and I didn’t have to make it up, there was no green screen. And that was much more freeing than I was prepared for.

Kathryn’s sentiments are relatable. Given the distinct Quantum Realm setting, much of the ‘Ant-Man’ movie was shot using a green screen. Many prominent actors in the industry have highlighted how modern technologies detract from the traditional experience of filmmaking, involving real people on genuine sets.

Regardless of Kathryn’s feelings about the movie, we’re confident she’ll make a comeback to the franchise. Although ‘Quantumania’ left Cassie Lang’s future appearances uncertain, ‘The Marvels’ introduced an initiative led by Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, to assemble a team of young superheroes, including Cassie Lang, hinting at her potential involvement in future endeavors like the Young Avengers.

There’s a project centered around the Young Avengers in the works. Do you have anything to contribute? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
