Marvel Studios Reportedly Shifts Focus Away from Kang the Conqueror to Other Multiversal Villains

After the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ the superhero world was rocked by allegations against Jonathan Majors. He played Victor Timely in ‘Loki’ Season 1 and Kang the Conqueror in ‘Quantumania,’ set to be the next big villain in the Multiversal Saga.

Majors’ career has declined since his arrest in March 2023 for allegedly assaulting a woman, rumored to be his girlfriend. He was dropped from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring him were pulled.

This marked the end of Majors’ role as MCU’s Kang the Conqueror, leaving the studio in a tough spot. They had built up Kang as the main villain of the Multiversal Saga through both seasons of ‘Loki’ and ‘Quantumania’ but now had to drop their main actor.

Since then, rumors have spread that the studio wants to put Kang on hold for a while, with talks of recasting the character. Names like Colman Domingo and John David Washington have been mentioned.

According to recent reports by Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez in his Discord AMA, the character will likely be recast, but the studio plans to focus on other Multiversal villains before returning to Kang.

I have heard they want to focus on other multiversal villains before dealing with Kang again.

Perez also doubts that Doctor Doom will be the main villain in the current saga because there’s not enough time to develop his character properly. He thinks it would be unfair to rush Doom’s introduction and role, suggesting Doom deserves more setup than just appearing in a post-credit scene and being the main antagonist for two movies. There are also rumors that Doom will be handled like Loki in the ‘Infinity Saga,’ with a more gradual and nuanced development instead of being a straightforward villain.

Focusing on other multiversal villains is true for now. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ set to be released in a few weeks, will feature Cassandra Nova as the villain with a multiversal twist.
