NetEase & Nintendo in Talks to Bring ‘Marvel Rivals’ to Switch 2!

Marvel Rivals, the hit hero shooter, has been making waves on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, one major platform has been left out: the Nintendo Switch. Developer NetEase Games has previously stated that the original Switch wasn’t powerful enough to handle the game properly, disappointing many Nintendo fans. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?
IGN recently spoke with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, and there’s good news for Nintendo players. According to Wu, a Switch 2 release is definitely a possibility.
Wu revealed that NetEase Games is already in discussions with Nintendo and has access to development kits for the new console. When asked about the chances of Marvel Rivals coming to the Switch 2, Wu responded:
“We’re already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we’re open to that. The reason why we didn’t launch it onto the Switch, it was the first generation of that device they cannot provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we’re open to that.”
This means that if the new console has the power to run the game smoothly, NetEase is willing to bring it to the platform. While nothing is confirmed yet, this is a promising sign for Switch fans who want to join the Marvel Rivals action.
Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2 last month, though details remain scarce. What we do know is that it is expected to be a more powerful version of the original Switch, with improved hardware capable of running more demanding games.
One particularly interesting rumor is that the console will include a new controller feature resembling a mouse-like input. This could make playing shooters like Marvel Rivals feel more natural and precise, similar to playing on a PC. However, Nintendo has yet to fully explain how this new functionality will work.
The release date for the Switch 2 is still unknown, but Nintendo has confirmed a special Nintendo Direct presentation for April 2. We may learn more about the console’s capabilities and potential launch titles then.
