One Piece: Why Is Komurasaki so Important to Orochi?
A vile and hated character, Kurozumi Orochi was the shogun of Wano Country in One Piece. He was also an important ally of Kaidou before the Emperor turned against him. He is the third antagonist in the Wano Kuni Arc behind Linlin and Kaido. He was an ally of the Kaido Pirates until the Onigashima Fire Festival, during which Kaido betrayed him and beheaded him for his New Onigashima project. Sadly, Orochi survived this and would later return with his plan of destroying Onigashima. But, this article won’t be about Orochi’s plans, as we are going to tell you who Komurasaki was and why she was so important to Orochi.
To hide her true identity, Hiyori disguised herself as a courtesan named Komurasaki. Orochi was infatuated with her and wanted to marry her, but had her killed when she defied him; he did not know that she was never killed. When he heard her play her shamisen, he crawled to her, hoping that he could have her by his side once again, but he was shocked when he found out her true identity moments before being killed by Kazenbo.
The rest of this article will be about Komurasaki and her relationship with Orochi in One Piece. We will introduce you to their shared story, how it developed, and how it ended, in fire and chaos, just as Orochi deserved it. This article will contain some spoilers, so if you’re not fully up-to-date with everything, you have been warned.
Komurasaki and Orochi had a strange relationship
They didn’t know each other before the banquet, but they have always wanted to meet since they heard about each other. The Shogun has fallen under her spell. Orochi, of course, did not know who Komurasaki was as she hid her true identity with her mask. Orochi originally used to be in love with Komurasaki and wished to make the woman his wife.
However, when Orochi attacked Toko for an insignificant reason, Komuraski slapped him across the face, angering the shogun. Orochi, from then on, refused to make her his wife unless she apologized, but due to her beauty, Orochi gave her a chance to beg for her mercy, which she refused, sending him into another fit of rage. However, his fury increased even more when Kyoshiro ended her life without his permission. He, of course, did not know that Kyoshiro never killed Komurasaki, but he still mourned her “death” sincerely, despite their fight.
Unbeknownst to Orochi, Komurasaki was actually Kozuki Hiyori, the daughter of his most hated enemy, Oden. Komurasaki would not appear in front of Orochi for a long time. Still, after Kanjuro’s death and sometime during Kazenbo’s flaming rampage on Onigashima, Orochi heard the sound of a shamisen, the instrument that Komurasaki played so well. This immediately lifted his spirits, and amidst all that chaos and destruction, he crawled to the source of the sound.

He did not know who the player was, but when he saw it was Komurasaki, he was happy and started crying out of joy. So, after finding out that Komurasaki never died, Orochi was happy and relieved; Komurasaki greeted him with a smile when he approached her initially as she played “Moon Princess” on the shamisen, which was Orochi’s favorite song. While he was distracted by her playing, she planted a Seastone on him, thus disabling him from using his Devil Fruit powers. But Orochi soon ended up under a pile of rubble resulting from his own doings.
While he was trapped under that pile of rubble, Komurasaki coldly revealed that she never loved him and finally took off her mask in front of him, revealing her true identity, that of Kozuki Hiyori. After she reveals that she is Kozuki Oden’s daughter, Orochi becomes enraged and declares his intention to kill her. The love disappeared, and the only thing that saved her life at that moment was the Seastone, although it would soon fall down, which enabled Orochi to transform. In that form, he was stopped by Denjiro, who cut his head off for the last time and left him to die.
At that moment, Kazenbo would appear, albeit on the verge of disappearing himself, and Orochi would order the small drawing to burn Hiyori. Still, Kazebo did not listen to him and instead went to find solace with his master, thereby setting him on flame by accident. Kazenbo died, and Hiyori had the opportunity to witness Orochi’s death personally. She said she wanted to kill him herself, but while she did not succeed, she witnessed him die in front of her.
Komurasaki hated Orochi, and Orochi wasn’t even aware that he hated her
Now to elaborate on their relationship in more detail. As you can see, the two of them had a very odd relationship resulting from Hiyori’s disguise and Orochi’s narcissistic stupidity. And while it did seem that Komurasaki and Orochi loved each other, the real truth was completely different. The only issue is that Hiyori was aware of her true feelings for Orochi. In contrast, Orochi had absolutely no clue that he actually hated Komurasaki, i.e., the person she really was.

Hiyori has a great deal of hatred and loathing for Orochi, not only because he was one of the two men responsible for his parents’ unjust death but also because of Orochi’s twisted cruelty to the residents of Wano Country, who were oppressed tyrannically by being made to live in wastelands, serve as slaves to the Beasts Pirates, and subsist on food scraps.
Hiyori tearfully confided to Zoro that Orochi’s most heinous crime was to cause the poor so much suffering and take away their capacity to express their pain. Orochi even went so far as to feed them defective SMILE fruits to prevent them from expressing their sadness and despair of suffering and dying of starvation and disease. And this is why Kumorasaki was so important to Orochi until he actually found out who she was, but nevertheless, she played a major role in his downfall.
