Record of Ragnarok: Odin vs. Simo – Who Is Stronger & Who Would Win in a Fight?

Record of Ragnarok: Odin vs. Sim - Who Is Stronger & Who Would Win in a Fight?

Record of Ragnarok is a seinen manga written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and drawn by Ajichika. An animated series adaptation produced by Graphinica studio was produced by Netflix in 2021, with a second season being released in January 2023. In this article, we are going to talk about one a set of two characters in the series, characters who could potentially face each other in the first round of the Ragnarok tournament – Odin, on the side of the Gods, and Simo Häyhä, on the side of the humans. In this article, we will analyze that potential fight and tell you who won and whether the winner is stronger.

Odin and the Finnish sniper Simo Häyhä have been designated and announced as possible fighters for the Gods and Humans, respectively, but this has not happened yet. Whether Odin and Simo Häyhä are going to fight against each other or against someone else is unknown, as is the stronger of the two, because Simo Häyhä’s powers are wholly unknown at this moment. This is why we cannot determine a winner.

This article will be split into two parts. We will first provide you with an overview of a potential battle between Odin and Simo Häyhä, as we will use our usual category-by-category to try and give you some insight into these two characters. The characters are quite intriguing, and there is a lot to talk about, but aside from the brief intro, we are solely going to focus on how powerful they are. Before we continue, though, we have to give a disclaimer that Odin’s powers have been revealed only superficially. In contrast, Simo Häyhä is still a complete mystery, which is why a lot of the data from this article is purely speculative.

Strength

Odin inherently has substantially better skills than humans because he is a god. It is obviously impossible to harm it with a weapon created by a human, as opposed to a god or demi-god. He must also be much more powerful than most other gods because he is the supreme god of the Nordic pantheon and a heavenly warrior. In a fit of rage, Odin could completely destroy the seat railing to dust while holding it in one hand. As one of the chief deities in the series, Odin is undoubtedly one of the strongest gods, but we don’t know the true extent of his powers and abilities yet.

Simo’s skills haven’t been revealed, but considering he was selected to participate in Ragnarök, he may be believed to be fairly strong. The true extent of his physical abilities has not been revealed. As a character who was focused on shooting and weapons, Simo Häyhä might not be as physically imposing as some other characters because he was not used to fighting. Still, if he was chosen as one of humanity’s fighters, he is probably stronger than your usual human.

Due to his divine nature and what we know about Simo, we can assume that Odin is physically stronger. While we cannot really confirm this with absolute certainty, he is most probably stronger than Simo.

Points: Odin 1, Simo Häyhä 0

Intelligence

Although Loki quickly discovered that he had transformed into Thor, it has been shown that Odin can see through the capacity to impersonate other people because of this. As the head of the Nordic pantheon, Odin is most probably highly intelligent. We know that Record of Ragnarok doesn’t diverge much from the original stories, so it is safe to assume that Odin has the intelligence of his mythological counterpart and that he has gained near omniscience, just like his mythological counterpart. He is exceptionally wise, has great deductive skills, and is probably quite perceptive, as well as a tactical genius. However, as we have said, these pieces of data are still subject to confirmation.

Odin observes Round One

Knowing that Simo Häyhä was an expert marksman while he was alive and that human characters retain the peak of their abilities in these fights, we assume that Simo Häyhä is highly intelligent, very perceptive, and a tactical genius. We don’t really know how all of this is going to be manifested in the manga and whether he is going to have some additional powers. Still, they are probably not going to be supernatural in nature.

This is a category where Odin will, due to his supernatural abilities, probably surpass Simo. However good he might be, Simo will probably not be able to surpass Odin’s nigh-omniscience.

Points: Odin 2, Simo Häyhä 0

Special Powers

Odin has also displayed a weird talent that can cause a garden’s flowers to wither, die, and disappear completely; this is his Life Theft/Decay ability, but we have yet to see the full extent of this power. Odin probably has numerous special abilities aside from this one, but we have absolutely no clue about any of them at this point in time. As we have said, very little is known about Odin and his abilities, as he has served as an overseer for most of the time, so we have yet to see just how powerful he is.

As for Simo Häyhä, we know even less than we know about Odin. In fact, we know absolutely nothing. It is assumed that Simo Häyhä could have some special skills related to precision and sight, as well as marksmanship, but what they could look like and how many of them there are is something we cannot even speculate about since the manga has provided us with absolutely no information about this aspect of Simo Häyhä. This means that we will simply have to wait and see how he will be portrayed in this aspect.

This is a category where we cannot really pick the winner because we have insufficient information about the special abilities of these two characters. We have nothing to go on, and that is why this one is inconclusive.

Weapons

All fighters in Record of Ragnarok had a weapon of sorts; most of these weapons were modeled after real or mythological weapons that these characters have, but they have been augmented and improved for the manga. Odin doesn’t have a trademark weapon that is as famous as Thor’s hammer, but he does have Gungnir, a famous and powerful spear that will most likely be his signature weapon in the battles in the series. Now, what the spear will look like and how its powers will be portrayed in the series is unknown. We don’t even know whether Gungnir will make an appearance, but due to its mythological connection to Odin, it probably will be seen at some point.

Simo Hayha

Simo Häyhä was a marksman and a sniper. He was also portrayed with a firearm in the manga. It is safe to assume that his signature weapon will be a rifle or a sniper, which he will use to his advantage. We don’t know how enhanced the rifle will end up being, as all weapons in Record of Ragnarok are. Still, it will probably have some special abilities that will make Simo Häyhä even deadlier than he was in real life. But since we know nothing at this stage, we’ll just have to wait a bit.

This is also a category where we cannot really pick the winner because we have insufficient information about the special abilities of these two characters. We have nothing to go on, which is why this one is inconclusive.

Points: Odin 2, Simo Häyhä 0 + 1 inconclusive

The winner of the fight between Odin and Simo Häyhä

And now for our article’s most important and interesting section – the analysis. Here, we will use what we have learned about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.

With two inconclusive categories and two assumed advantages for Odin, we cannot really determine the winner in this case. We simply do not have enough information about either Odin or Simo Häyhä to give a proper answer here, which is why the overall result is inconclusive. At this point in time, we simply don’t have enough information on these two to give you a proper answer to your inquiry, and we’ll just have to wait and see how they will be portrayed in the future.

Suppose the two of them were to fight each other. In that case, it will certainly be interesting to see how Odin’s nigh-omniscience and knowledge will do against history’s best marksman and whether Odin’s powers will be enough to counter everything that Simo Häyhä will have to offer. But, until that happens, we’ll have to work with what we have, and what we have is very little.
