Solo Leveling: Is Lee Joohee in Love With Sung Jinwoo? Relationship Explained!

Solo Leveling is a South Korean novel series that has recently seen an anime adaptation. Arguably the most popular manhwa in the world, Solo Leveling is sure to attract a lot of attention, especially because the anime adaptation is truly great. Unlike our previous articles, this article is going to be dedicated to the relationship between two major characters in the series. One of the two characters is Sung Jinwoo, the series’ protagonist, while the other is Lee Joohee, a major secondary character who played a big role at the beginning of the series. In this article, we are going to explain the nature of their relationship to you.
Joohee and Jinwoo were closer friends and that is all they were for the duration of the series
The story’s main character, Sung Jinwoo, was originally perceived by all as the system’s weakest Hunter. Jinwoo was a weak, nice, shy, and awkward youngster before he became a Player of the System. He battled daily inside the low-level Gates to make enough money to support his sister and pay for his sick mother’s hospital bills. His reputation as the “weakest” was mostly due to the fact that he constantly injured himself and put his life in peril, even though the Gates he visited were among the easiest.
After the events of the Double Dungeon and his subsequent “Double Awakening,” Jinwoo gains the capacity to enhance his powers through the destruction of monsters within Gates and the completion of specific assignments designated by the System. He gains height and strength as well as increasing self-assurance and ability to use his resources because of these prizes, which also help him increase his stats. Jinwoo is still gentle and considerate to those closest to him, despite the fact that he appears to lose some of his feelings each time he gets stronger.
Lee Joohee, on the other hand, did not change in the series, and that wasn’t necessarily for the best in terms of her character development. She was introduced as a shy, but very caring and gentle person. As a Healer, she cared a lot for her teammates and would always be near them when needed; as a B-Rank Healer, she was quite skilled. Still, while he was there to help, she never got used to the life of a Hunter and the stress would always take a toll on her.
After the events of the Double Dungeon, she had a breakdown and needed some time to regain her composure. She pondered retirement during the time but realized that she was simply too weak and that she should give it a go nevertheless. And while she did develop some form of courage, she wasn’t able to remain a Hunter for long and eventually retired, returning to her family in Busan.
Now, Joohee and Jinwo were quite close and were friends. Since both of them went on the same Raids often, they developed a friendly relationship, especially because Joohee needed to heal Jinwoo quite often before the Double Dungeon event. She cared a lot about him and always watched out for him; after the Double Dungeon, she was the only one who came to visit him in the hospital save for his sister.
Jinwoo actually gave courage to Joohee over the course of the series; being aware that Jinwoo was the weakest, seeing his resolve to fight gave her additional resolve as well. While Jinwoo definitely considered her a friend, it has been implied that Joohee had romantic feelings for Jinwoo (she blushed in his presence, etc.), but she never acted on them and after her return to Busan, their relationship never managed to develop. Jinwoo would, in the meantime, find a girlfriend, while Joohee remained his friend until the end of the story.
After Jinwoo reset the timeline, he chose not to reveal his identity to her, probably because he wanted to spare her the trouble, but he was happy when they met by chance.
