Star Wars Theory Faces Death Threats Amid Potential Wookieepedia Defamation Lawsuit Over ‘The Acolyte’ Controversy

Ki-Adi-Mundi's 'The Acolyte' Cameo Makes No Sense and Shouldn't Even Be Possible

If you’re a fan of the Star Wars franchise and were offline last week, you missed a lot of drama. The recent release of ‘The Acolyte’ episode 4 has stirred up significant controversy within the fandom.

‘The Acolyte’ was already a highly controversial show before its release, with part of the fandom reacting negatively to its female-led premise. Statements made by the cast and crew have further agitated an already tense fanbase.

Things took a turn for the worse when the show was released. Fans were disappointed with the low-quality production and found parts of it nonsensical. The show introduced the Witches of Brendok, non-traditional Force users who created twins, Osha and Mae, by manipulating the Force without a male partner.

Episode 4 further fueled the controversy with a brief cameo of Ki-Adi-Mundi, a character from ‘The Phantom Menace.’ This appearance puzzled fans, as Ki-Adi-Mundi, who was in his 60s during the movie, shouldn’t be alive during the events of ‘The Acolyte.’ His species doesn’t have the longevity of Wookiees or Yoda’s race, making his cameo a glaring inconsistency.

So, what do Wookieepedia and Star Wars Theory have to do with this? Following the release of episode 4, fans began mocking and demanding an explanation for Ki-Adi-Mundi’s appearance in the show. In response, Wookieepedia editors quickly altered and then completely removed Mundi’s date of birth from the site to support the argument that his age and lifespan are not clearly defined in canon.

This move appears to be an attempt to legitimize ‘The Acolyte’s’ interpretation of canon events, which remains problematic even without considering Mundi’s age and birthdate.

Star Wars Theory, one of the top YouTubers covering Star Wars content, noticed the change during his watch party. His subscribers informed him via chat that Wookieepedia had altered Mundi’s page based solely on the show’s claims.

We’ve covered this incident extensively. Following the change, Wookieepedia editors reportedly began receiving death threats. Although no concrete evidence was provided at the time, it’s alleged that this evidence has since been deleted by the users who posted the threats.

Wookieepedia further accused Star Wars Theory of inciting his fans to threaten them after he told his audience to “fix” Wookieepedia. The editors alleged that the same fans who came to “fix” the site were responsible for the death threats.

Niatoos Dadbeh, the creator behind the Star Wars Theory channel, responded by posting a video in which he stated that he is prepared to pursue legal action against the site for defamation. He refuted the claims that he orchestrated the harassment and that his fanbase was responsible for the death threats.

In the video, Dadbeh repeatedly emphasized that he never asked his fanbase to engage in any harassment. He also mentioned that he frequently faces hateful attacks himself, which is quite believable. Dadbeh stated the following and threatened serious legal action if Wookieepedia did not cease their slanderous claims:

If you continue to lie and purport that my company is sending you death threats or hoarding my followers to send you death threats I will take legal action against you. I do not like that defamation. You are quite a big presence, you are not a little shrimp fry on Twitter with a couple of followers. If You continue I will file a lawsuit.

Ironically, this is when Star Wars Theory began receiving death threats from presumed Wookieepedia supporters. Fortunately, we have substantial evidence documenting these threats.

Obviously, Wookieepedia did not send these individuals after Star Wars Theory, but it’s quite ironic considering the situation, as these threats clearly come from Wookieepedia supporters in this dispute.

Star Wars Theory himself reposted the photo, sparking a discussion about whether the reaction to the death threats he received is consistent with the response to Wookieepedia’s similar allegations.
