The world of anime is one that’s full of some of the most entertaining characters due to their personality and powers. However, when it comes to most anime, especially the ones in the shonen classification or genre, we can’t help but admire characters who display power levels and abilities that are simply out of this world in terms of how strong they are. That is why anime tends to be one of the most entertaining forms of literature in today’s fictional world.
Then again, different anime worlds and universes tend to have different power levels and characters stronger than we can usually imagine. That’s why the ones on this list are actually the characters who matter in their own respective universes or are, at the very least, some of the most popular, strong, and overpowered anime characters. Now, with that said, let’s look at the strongest anime characters of all time.
50. Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia)
Izuku Midoriya is the main character of ‘My Hero Academia’ and is the current and final inheritor of the One For All Quirk, which is said to be the strongest Quirk other than the Quirk held by the main antagonist. He inherited his Quirk because he showcased the heart and soul of a true hero, and that was what touched All Might.
While he idolized All Might and worked hard to earn his Quirk, Midoriya ended up struggling with the power of One For All. But with sheer hard work and determination, he learned how to control a portion of the power. On top of that, he also unlocked the Quirks of this Quirk’s previous wielders. So, while he is yet to reach All Might’s level of control, he is potentially a lot stronger than his idol.
49. Eren Yeager (Attack On Titan)
Some people don’t expect to see Eren Yeager here, but he is truly an overpowered character, as the power of the Founding Titan is basically godlike in the world of ‘Attack On Titan.’ On top of the fact that he could see the future using the power of the Attack Titan, he could also use his powers to command countless gigantic titans to crush the entire world in a matter of days.
But another key aspect of the Founding Titan’s power is that it has complete control over the physiology of an Eldian or a Subject of Ymir. In that regard, he can basically turn any Subject of Ymir into a Colossal Titan at will. As such, there’s no doubt that Eren’s powers were so great that he could flatten the entire world in days.
48. Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail)
As the star of the ‘Fairy Tail’ manga and anime, Natsu Dragneel deserves a spot on this list as he is actually very strong. Not many people have positive opinions about the power levels in ‘Fairy Tail,’ but we are sure that Natsu’s powers allow him to stand up to some of the strongest villains in the storyline. On top of that, he has the power of friendship on his side.
Natsu possesses the power of the strongest fire dragon in the entire world of ‘Fairy Tail,’ which allowed him to become one of the strongest characters in the entire storyline. Like almost all of the characters possessing Dragon Magic, Natsu can also consume and use other types of Dragon Magic, making him one of the most complete characters in terms of his strength.
47. Zeref (Fairy Tail)
Zeref is Natsu’s older brother and is a master of dark magic, as he is said to be the most evil mage in the history of the world of ‘Fairy Tail.’ Of course, the only reason he even became evil was that Natsu died at one point in the past, and that was why he tried to bring his brother back to life using Black Magic.
Using his Black Magic mastery, Zeref is almost unstoppable, as he can create demons just as strong as most other characters in the storyline. He could also kill almost anyone he wanted and was skilled in immobilizing time itself using his magical abilities. And he was so strong that it is said that he was second only to one being in the world of ‘Fairy Tail.’
46. Guts (Berserk)
Guts deserves to be at the top of this list regarding the most tragic anime characters. The fact that he experienced tragedy in the past allowed him to become incredibly strong. As such, he used his sad past and the current troubles in his life to become stronger than almost anyone else in the world of ‘Berserk.’
Guts possesses the Brand of Sacrifice, which forces monsters to hunt him down non-stop. As such, he has to fight non-stop, as well as he has to stay alive long enough to reach his goals. Of course, he was so strong that he could defeat 100 soldiers on his own back when he was still a mercenary. Such things happen when you have been a soldier since age nine.
45. Griffith (Berserk)
Griffith may look like a nice guy when compared to Guts, but don’t let the angelic looks deceive you because this guy is a cold-blooded killer. He is the leader and Supreme Commander of the Midland Regular Army and is just as skilled as Guts in his fighting skills. However, he became far stronger than Guts.
After Griffith transcended and turned into Femto, he became much stronger than anyone else because he no longer existed in the physical world. Basically speaking, he was no longer human. This allowed him to become so powerful that any limitations no longer hampered his body.
44. Isaac Netero (Hunter x Hunter)
Isaac Netero was so powerful that he was the one whom the Hunter Association trusted to take care of the Ant King, whose powers were far beyond the capability of any other character in the storyline. In that regard, it goes without saying that Netero was the strongest hunter in the world, so he became the chairman of the Hunter Association.
Even though he was 120 years old, he was the strongest martial artist in the storyline and was faster and stronger than any other human. His ultimate ability was the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, which was strong enough to push the Ant King to his limits. Nevertheless, not even the strongest human was a match for Meruem. Still, Netero’s final gambit, which was a small nuclear bomb, was what eventually killed the Ant King.
43. Pride (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
Pride was created when Father expelled his pride from his body to create a homunculus that shared a portion of his power. As a homunculus, Pride is almost unkillable as long as his Philosopher’s Stone still has human lives in it. But the challenge was that he was almost impossible to kill.
Because his body is made up of shadows, Pride can move from one place to another and reshape his body accordingly as long as there is enough light to create shadows. He can use his shadows to create solid objects strong enough to cut through steel. After absorbing Gluttony, his senses improved so much that he could now smell his opponents and use his powerful shadows to full effect.
42. Ken Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul)
The ‘Tokyo Ghoul’ storyline allowed us to see Ken Kaneki evolving from a timid bookworm into one of the most badass characters in the entire storyline. He obtained superhuman strength when an accident turned him into a hybrid between a human and a ghoul, and he was able to use his ghoul abilities to full effect as he gained superhuman strength and the ability to regenerate his body at will.
Upon reaching his full power, Kaneki became so strong that he could level entire buildings and even destroy a city. He became so powerful that no other ghoul could match his abilities at his peak. And that was why he became an unbeatable character near the end of the ‘Tokyo Ghoul’ storyline.
41. Muzan Kibutsuji (Demon Slayer)
As the progenitor of all Demon Slayer’s demons, Muzan Kibutsuji was naturally stronger than anyone else in the world. His strength, speed, durability, and powers were unparalleled, as the only one who could defeat him one-on-one was the legendary Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Other than that, he could take on any swordsman or demon and defeat them almost effortlessly.
Muzan also can turn other people into demons by making them drink his blood. His many different powers also include molding his entire body into different weapons and shifting his appearance at will. His only known weakness is sunlight, which means that he is basically unbeatable except when exposed to daylight.
40. Sosuke Aizen (Bleach)
Once a part of the Gotei 13 of Soul Society, Sosuke Aizen became obsessed with becoming the strongest and most unstoppable being, and he tried to find a way to make sure that no one would ever be able to kill him. This turned him into one of the most compelling antagonists in the storyline.
Aizen obtained a godlike power that allowed him to become immortal in every sense of the word, as the only way they could stop him was to damage him well enough to buy enough time to seal him. But even in his sealed form, he was still stronger than most other characters. Aizen’s power was so great that his standard ability allowed him to distort a person’s perception by basically messing up with their senses.
39. Acnologia (Fairy Tail)
The main antagonist of ‘Fairy Tail’ is Acnologia, who may not have been as active as Zeref but is an even bigger threat because he possesses immeasurable power. He used to be a Dragon Slayer who killed so many dragons that he eventually became a dragon himself. Nevertheless, he still vowed to end all dragons with his power.
Due to his immense power, he was able to defeat Gildarts in the past, which caused him to lose an arm and a leg. Zeref even admitted that he couldn’t take Acnologia on his own due to the sheer destructive power of this dragon. He even killed God Serena in a split second even though this was one of the strongest wizards in the storyline.
38. Alucard (Hellsing Ultimate)
Based on the legendary Dracula, Alucard was simply unstoppable in the Hellsing Ultimate storyline, as no one could actually stand up to his power. He is basically immortal due to the souls trapped inside him, and he became literally immortal by the end of the anime. As such, there was no way that Alucard could be killed.
On top of the fact that he became immortal, Alucard was also far stronger, faster, and more durable than any mere human being. He also can control blood and comes with many different powers that make him almost godlike in terms of his overall strength. As such, he belongs on any list of the strongest and most powerful anime characters ever.
37. Makima (Chainsaw Man)
While she didn’t seem like a threat when she was first introduced, the friendly and polite Makima was actually someone who no one should ever mess with. And that’s because she possesses powers beyond almost everyone else in the ‘Chainsaw Man’ storyline, as she was the Control Devil the entire time.
As her name suggests, the Control Devil can control other people and even use her powers to kill anyone as long as she knows their names and has a set of human sacrifices. She can also put almost anyone under her control, as her power is strong enough to dominate anyone inferior to her. This is why she was one of the most feared characters in the entire ‘Chainsaw Man’ storyline.
36. DIO (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
For the longest time, DIO was the main villain of the entire ‘JoJo’ manga and anime and was the biggest threat to the world. Aside from the fact that DIO was a vampire, there were also a lot of different reasons why he became one of the strongest anime characters of all time, especially when you count the video games.
In the manga and anime, DIO possessed a vampire’s physiology, which made him stronger than any normal human. However, his Stand, which is The World, allowed him to become stronger than almost anyone else as it could stop time. And while time is stopped, DIO and The World can move freely for a few seconds to kill anyone.
35. Lucy (Elfen Lied)
Lucy is a unique character in the sense that she is a new species of human called Diclonius. Human scientists tortured and experimented on her until Lucy evolved and became incredibly powerful. She escaped the lab and killed everyone in sight without any effort whatsoever.
Her power lies in her telekinetic abilities, which allow her to kill enemies with a thought. With just a flick of her head, she can kill countless people. In that regard, she is one of the most terrifying characters in terms of her power, especially when she is up against someone who wants to lock her up again.
34. Whitebeard (One Piece)
Also known as Edward Newgate, Whitebeard is the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and is said to be the strongest pirate in the world. He has the size, strength, and experience to prove his strength. Of course, he ate the Quake-Quake Devil Fruit to become strong enough to generate earthquakes. As such, only a handful of pirates in the world of ‘One Piece’ can stand a chance against him.
The fact that he can generate earthquakes is Whitebeard’s greatest power, as he can create tsunamis and destroy entire cities. But his physical abilities are nothing to scoff at because he can stomp enemies without relying on his earthquake powers.
33. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
He may be carefree and happy-go-lucky, but Monkey D. Luffy worked his tail off to become one of the strongest characters and pirates in the world of ‘One Piece.’ He consumed the Gomu Gomu no Mi, which was supposed to be the weakest. However, thanks to sheer hard work and ingenuity, Luffy unlocked his potential and became one of the strongest characters in the world of pirates.
Luffy also worked hard to become stronger and faster than most pirates. His rubber body also made him one of the most durable pirates in ‘One Piece.’ On top of that, he awakened Gear 5, which allowed him to become strong enough to defeat a character like Kaido one-on-one. This means he is one of the strongest shonen characters ever.
32. Meliodas (The Seven Deadly Sins)
Meliodas is the main character of ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ and is right up there at the top regarding his strength. But the thing about this manga and anime is that the power levels tend to be all over the place, and that’s why it’s tough to gauge Meliodas as against any other anime character on this list. Still, he is one of the strongest and most overpowered characters ever.
As the son of the Demon King, Meliodas possesses the potential to become the next Demon King. He has lived for thousands of years and has continued to become stronger. He possesses the Full Counter ability, which deflects the enemy’s attack back at them, making him almost impossible to defeat using conventional methods.
31. Kaido (One Piece)
The age-old debate between Kaido and Whitebeard was never truly settled, but we know that the current version of Kaido is stronger than the old-man version. Of course, under normal circumstances, Kaido is also stronger than Luffy in the world of ‘One Piece.’ And there’s a good reason why many fans believe he is stronger than any other ‘One Piece’ character.
For one, Kaido can use all three forms of Haki, which makes him incredibly versatile in a fight. He can also transform into a massive dragon that could easily decimate his opponents. On top of that, he has proven himself against the likes of Big Mon. So, while Kaido did indeed lose to Luffy, he is still stronger under normal circumstances, as Luffy needed to unlock Fifth Gear to defeat him.
30. Uchiha Sasuke (Naruto)
As one of the main characters of the ‘Naruto’ anime, Uchiha Sasuke became one of the strongest characters as he worked his way up the ladder through sheer determination and willpower. His main goal was to become strong enough to kill his brother, but his goal evolved as he wanted to become strong enough to dominate the entire world. As such, Naruto needed to beat some sense back into him.
Sasuke was born the reincarnation of the legendary Indra, who was the progenitor of the entire Uchiha clan. As such, he possessed Indra’s natural talents and eventually became the strongest Uchiha in all of history. He fought Naruto to a draw in their final battle together. However, years later, he became so strong that he and Naruto could defeat literal godlike alien beings.
29. Kars (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Before the introduction of Stands in ‘JoJo,’ there was one character whose power stood head and shoulders above all of creation. Kars, who was a powerful Pillar Man, became even more powerful when he turned into Ultimate Kars. In his ultimate form, he was basically a god who could do whatever he wanted.
In fact, Kars was so powerful that there was no way to kill him. He could change his body into anything at will and even do things that only a god could. And the only way for Joseph Joestar to defeat him was to banish him into the depths of space, where he was basically useless.
28. Uzumaki Naruto (Naruto)
Uzumaki Naruto is the star of the ‘Naruto’ anime and the undoubted strongest ninja in the world. Of course, he became stronger by working his butt off and forming bonds and relationships with people he befriended. In that regard, he became strong not only because of his hard work but also because he had friends to help him get that far.
As the reincarnation of Asura, Naruto possesses the incredible potential and power of one of the strongest ninjas in history. While he relied a lot on the power of the Nine-Tails sealed within him, he also worked hard enough to hone his skills, strong body, and battle tactics to become the strongest ninja in the history of the ninja world.
27. Meruem (Hunter x Hunter)
Easily the strongest character in the ‘Hunter x Hunter’ anime thus far. Meruem is so strong that he is basically a god compared to all of the humans. Arguably, no Hunter was strong enough to go up against the Royal Guard, but Meruem was stronger than all three of the Royal Guard members combined.
As the king of the Chimera Ants, he possessed physical abilities that were far beyond imagination, as he was faster, stronger, and much more durable than anything we’ve seen. The only reason why he was defeated was that a nuke-like bomb poisoned his body after he killed Netero. If that didn’t happen, he would’ve easily defeated all of the other Hunters in the world.
26. Gilgamesh (Fate)
As one of the best anime villains of all time, Gilgamesh is also one of the strongest. He is the original hero in the world of ‘Fate,’ and the fact that he was a god among men during his time made him one of the strongest characters in the storyline. While he doesn’t have the same level of strength and speed as the other characters, he has the most unbeatable power.
Gilgamesh has access to a realm that contains all the different weapons and items he collected from his enemies during his time, and he can summon and hurl these weapons toward his opponents at will. Opening numerous portals, he can rain swords and spears down on his opponents and kill them without lifting a finger. And he has a counter to almost any other Servant in ‘Fate’ because he has almost all of the Noble Phantasms in the history of the world.
25. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Possessing the inherited Jujutsu of his powerful family, Satoru Gojo is the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer in the world and quite possibly in history. His techniques basically allow him to become unkillable, and so overpowered that it would take a very special attack to actually kill him. Gojo possesses control over space and time, and that’s why no attack can hurt him, as he can slow the passage of time before an attack makes contact with his body.
Gojo’s control over time and space also allows him to perform attacks that are so powerful that they can destroy almost anything in the world of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen.’ His strongest attack, Hollow Purple, is designed to destroy anything in its path. Nevertheless, there is still one character that Gojo is not strong enough to beat in ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ and the character that eventually even killed him in the manga.
24. Ryomen Sukuna (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Ryomen Sukuna is arguably the strongest character in the entire ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ storyline. The Jujutsu sorcerers are actually looking to find a way to destroy him because he is so dangerous. And there’s a reason why Sukuna was called the King of Curses.
Sukuna was so dangerous that he had to be sealed long ago. His fingers had to be split so that they could prevent his return. In that regard, his return was one of the most dreaded things that the Jujutsu Sorcerers wanted to avoid. He even killed the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer in the storyline because he had an ability that could neutralize Satoru Gojo’s overpowered abilities.
23. Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)
As the star of ‘Bleach,’ Ichigo Kurosaki was innately strong and talented. There was always a reason he had a power-up, whether it was because he was the son of a former Gotei 13 captain or because a Hollow infected his mother in the past. Whatever the case may be, he only became stronger and stronger as the storyline progressed.
Ichigo, of course, was also a Quincy because his mother was a Quincy. This allowed him to have the powers of both a Shinigami and a Quincy. He also became strong enough to defeat the Quincy king with his overpowered abilities.
22. Kageyama Shigeo (Mob Psycho 100)
While his anime and character were always meant to be parody characters, he is still on this list because of the fact that he is insanely strong without necessarily becoming too overpowered. Going by “Mob,” which is his nickname, Shigeo is a psychic in a world where psychics exist. But while he wasn’t unique, he was the strongest out of all of them by a mile.
The thing about Mob is that he always tried to hold back his psychic powers because he was afraid of hurting people. But he could destroy entire cities with his abilities whenever he didn’t care about holding back. This usually happens whenever he is emotional, as he has yet to fully control his powers. But Mob is undoubtedly the strongest psychic in the entire storyline, as there’s no one close to his abilities.
21. Akira Fudo / Devilman (Devilman)
We are looking at the classic 70s version of Akira Fudo in the ‘Devilman’ anime instead of the newer ‘Devilman Crybaby’ storyline. While Akira did indeed become a demon after gaining the powers and memories of a powerful devil called Amon, he retained his human side due to his pure heart. Nevertheless, he obtained the powers of the strongest demon of all, and he used these powers to protect humanity against other demons.
Akira’s physical strength as a demon was so immense that he could rip other demons in half. He could also fly and project energy beams that could destroy other demons. In that regard, no demon could stand up to his powers, as he was strong enough to level entire cities if he wanted to.
20. Light Yagami (Death Note)
Light Yagami isn’t a powerful or strong character when you look at his physical abilities. In fact, he isn’t more special than any other human being in his own universe regarding his physical abilities. However, Light Yagami is smarter than almost anyone else in the world, and he uses his intelligence to try to play the role of god on Earth using the Death Note.
With the Death Note in his hands, Light was powerful enough to kill anyone he wanted or, at the very least, control a person’s actions before killing them. The Death Note has almost no weakness, as it can kill anyone, including most of the characters on this list. But the scariest part is that only someone smart enough can actually figure out Light’s abilities, as he was so good at keeping his identity as the wielder of the Death Note a secret from everyone.
19. Rimuru Tempest (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)
As one of the most popular isekai anime, ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime’ stars one of the most overpowered characters in the anime world. Rimuru Tempest started out as a simple man who was transported to another world after death. But when he was reincarnated as a slime, he obtained the Predator ability, which allowed him to absorb anything and obtain their powers and abilities. And he became so powerful when he absorbed one of the strongest dragons in the world.
Using his powers, Rimuru defeated powerful enemies and even turned them into his own subjects as he forged his own nation with him as its leader. He also allowed his subjects to become stronger by sharing a portion of his power with them. In that regard, Rimuru became so strong that he could challenge some of the strongest characters in this new universe that he found himself in. And he could still become stronger by continuing to absorb other creatures.
18. All Might (My Hero Academia)
All Might is one of the protagonists of ‘My Hero Academia’ and is the Symbol of Peace in Japan because he was the strongest historical hero. Possessing the One For All Quirk, All Might used to be the strongest person to wield that Quirk before passing it on to Izuku Midoriya. And he was the only one who ever defeated All For One.
His control over One For All was so great that he could create entire hurricanes with a single punch. All Might didn’t have energy projection abilities, but his attacks were strong enough to level entire city blocks. And while we never saw him at his prime because his injuries slowed him down, All Might was said to be so strong that he almost defeated the strongest villain in the world during their earlier encounter.
17. All For One (My Hero Academia)
Known as the strongest villain in ‘My Hero Academia,’ All For One is a supervillain who has lived for a very long time and is said to be one of the first people to ever manifest a Quirk. His Quirk, which is also called All For One, is so powerful that he can take other Quirks and give them to other people as well. And we haven’t seen the upper limit of how many Quirks he can handle.
With his ability, All For One has stolen a lot of Quirks that allowed him to become the strongest being in the entire world for decades. It was only when All Might rose up to become the Symbol of Peace that All For One’s reign of terror was temporarily halted. Nevertheless, as a schemer, All For One found a way to return to full power, and he did so by taking over Tomura Shigaraki’s consciousness when he transferred his Quirk to him.
16. Kusuo Saiki (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.)
Kusuo Saiki is one of the few characters not from a shonen anime on this list. Nevertheless, he is still one of the strongest characters in the world of anime even though his own anime is actually a comedy storyline. And there’s a very good reason why he is so strong, even when compared to the other characters on this list.
Saiki possesses immense psychic powers that are so great that he is basically godlike. With his powers, he could read minds without effort and even destroy the entire planet if he wasn’t holding his powers back. His only weakness is that he sometimes cannot control his own powers. But if he always had them under control, there is almost no reason why he can’t become a god among men.
15. Jotaro Kujo (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Jotaro Kujo might not be the strongest JoJo, but he still belongs on this list because he has one of the strongest Stands of all time. He is also arguably the most popular out of all of the JoJo characters, as he has appeared in more episodes. Jotaro was also one of the first members of the Joestar family to have a Stand.
Star Platinum, Jotaro’s Stand, can strike with precision as this is one of the fastest and strongest melee-ranged Stands in the world of ‘JoJo.’ However, the true power of this Stand lies in its ability to stop time, as Star Platinum evolved to become more powerful than DIO’s own Stand. As such, he stands as one of the strongest characters in the ‘JoJo’ anime and even in the world of anime in general.
14. Yhwach (Bleach)
The strongest villain in the world of ‘Bleach’ is Yhwach, the progenitor of all of the Quincy and the son of the Soul King himself. As such, Yhwach was gifted with a unique set of powers and abilities that made him stand out as one of the strongest characters in the entire storyline. And while he wasn’t strong enough to defeat the Gotei 13 a thousand years ago, 1,000 years of resting and regaining his power ultimately allowed him to go up against Division Zero.
Yhwach is so powerful that all of the members of his Sternritter became powerful because he gave them a portion of his godlike powers. He did so by transferring portions of his soul to them. Of course, he was also stronger than Ichigo and all of the members of Squad Zero. Nevertheless, he was ultimately defeated by the protagonist of ‘Bleach’ even though Ichigo wasn’t strong enough to actually take him down in a true one-on-one situation.
13. Father (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
We have no shortage of godlike beings on this list as Father is one of such characters because he actually became a god at one point in time in the ‘Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood’ storyline. What Father did was that he absorbed the souls of all of the people in the country of Amestris to become one with god itself. He even displayed his power by creating a sun on the palm of his hand.
However, thanks to the efforts of Hohenheim, the process was reversed as Father lost most of his godlike abilities when the souls of the people that he killed were returned to them. But he was still strong enough that numerous people needed to kill him repeatedly so he would run out of power. Nevertheless, if it weren’t for Hohenheim’s quick thinking, Father would have been too powerful for the entire country to defeat.
12. Satan/Ryo Asuka (Devilman Crybaby)
In the storyline of ‘Devilman Crybaby,’ which is a newer adaptation of the classic ‘Devilman’ series, we met a character named Ryo Asuka, who was seemingly too suspicious. However, it turned out that Ryo was actually Satan and that he was the leader of a massive army of demons that wiped out all of humanity.
Ryo’s powers were so great that he eventually defeated Akira/Devilman in a battle after humanity was wiped out. He cut Devilman in half as he realized that the only person he ever loved ended up dying due to his wrong decisions. As such, the anime’s ending was quite tragic because the strongest person in the entire world ended up losing the only person he ever cared about, as this was a cautionary tale of how power isn’t everything in the world.
11. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Naruto)
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is an alien-like godlike character who brought chakra into the world of ‘Naruto.’ As the first one of her kind to interact with humanity, she was revered for her powers, as she had godlike abilities that no other person on the planet had. She also gave birth to the Sage of Six Paths and his brother, as they inherited their near-divine powers from their godlike mother.
However, Kaguya learned to hate humanity as she desired to wipe them all out. Her children defeated and sealed her, as she was far too powerful to be killed. Kaguya eventually returned during Naruto’s era, only for Naruto and Sasuke to seal her once more. The fact that the only way to defeat her was to seal her is proof of her strength and power.
10. Tetsuo Shima (Akira)
Tetsuo Shima is the antagonist of the ‘Akira’ storyline. He is a psychic with immeasurable psychic powers as he became even more powerful after a collision with another psychic. His powers grew to become too powerful, as he could destroy the entire universe with his godlike powers.
However, before he could obliterate the universe with his uncontrollable powers, he warped himself to a place outside of time and space so that the psychic explosion wouldn’t destroy the universe. But this very same explosion caused the birth of a new universe, proving that Tetsuo’s powers were so great.
9. Giorno Giovanna (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Giorno Giovanna doesn’t really have the physical capabilities of the other characters on this list. Still, he has one of the most overpowered Stands in the ‘JoJo’ anime storyline, as his Gold Experience Requiem (GER) has a power that’s unmatched by any other Stand. And this is why he belongs in the top ten.
After Gold Experience evolved to become GER, Giorno obtained the ability to revert actions by erasing the previous action from the timeline. This allows Giorno to undo different actions infinitely until he gets his desired results. On top of that, GER can operate independently of Giorno because this power can activate without the need for him to consciously use it. As such, if Giorno gets killed, GER can activate its power to erase Giorno’s death from the timeline and revert time back to when Giorno was still alive, making it impossible to kill him.
8. Saitama (One Punch Man)
Saitama is the strongest parody character in the world of anime, as there was no exact explanation for why he is overpowered. He doesn’t have any powers at all because the only thing that he can do is to use his fists in combat. Nevertheless, his raw strength has always been more than enough for him to destroy the strongest characters in ‘One Punch Man,’ including aliens that could destroy entire planets.
In fact, Saitama is so strong that he can basically go up against godlike entities and beings. Due to the parody nature of ‘One Punch Man,’ Saitama will always be stronger than any other character and will always find a way to defeat opponents who are supposedly godlike in terms of their power. This is why he is consistently in the top ten of the strongest anime characters ever.
7. Vegeta (Dragon Ball)
Vegeta is the secondary protagonist of the ‘Dragon Ball’ storyline as this role was magnified during the ‘Dragon Bal Super’ events, wherein he and Goku are almost always together to become strong enough to finally eclipse the God of Destruction. As Goku’s rival, Vegeta always works hard to eventually surpass him as the strongest Saiyan in the universe.
Because of his desire to become stronger than Goku and even Beerus, Vegeta has unlocked a lot of different forms, including his Ultra Ego form, which allowed him to become just as strong as the Gods of Destruction. Nevertheless, he is almost always about a half step behind Goku in the power department because Goku almost always seems to find a way to become slightly stronger than his rival.
6. Son Goku (Dragon Ball)
As the protagonist of the entire ‘Dragon Ball’ manga and anime, Son Goku has gone a long way from being a martial arts-obsessed young boy to a godlike being who can go toe-toe with the strongest characters in the greater multiverse. Ever since unlocking his god ki, Goku has consistently surprised gods and mortals alike with how quickly he progressed.
However, after he mastered Ultra Instinct, he ultimately became strong enough to rival the Gods of Destruction. This form allowed Goku to react instinctively to attacks and dish out attacks that are stronger than any of his Super Saiyan forms can accomplish. In that regard, he is almost always right at the top of the list of strongest mortals in ‘Dragon Ball.’
5. Beerus (Dragon Ball)
While Goku may be the strongest mortal in ‘Dragon Ball,’ one of the strongest immortals is Beerus, who has been around for as long as time itself as he is basically millions of years old. He is Universe 7’s God of Destruction and is basically the strongest God of Destruction in the greater multiverse. The reason why he wants Goku and Vegeta to train hard to become just as strong as him is related to the fact that he longs to have a challenging fight.
Beerus is so strong that he only uses some of his power whenever he fights Goku and Vegeta. In the manga, he could even take on multiple Gods of Destruction all on his own. And despite his somewhat lazy approach, he is still head and shoulders above almost all of the other Gods of Destruction, as only the angels and the supreme god of ‘Dragon Ball’ are stronger than him.
4. Whis (Dragon Ball)
Speaking of the angels in ‘Dragon Ball,’ Whis is the angel assigned to work as Beerus’ attendant and martial arts teacher. He was the one who trained Beerus, and that’s why he is stronger than him. On top of that, Whis is also the one overseeing the training of both Goku and Vegeta, as he wants them to eventually become strong enough to take on Beerus himself.
Whis mastered Ultra Instinct so much that he doesn’t even have to access a new form to use it. Ultra Instinct became engrained with his entire being as he could easily dodge any kind of attack. On top of that, Whis is also capable of godlike feats, including turning time back.
3. Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon)
Yes, Usagi Tsukino of ‘Sailor Moon’ is actually so strong that she is stronger than Goku and Vegeta. Some people might get confused about the fact that she is in the top three of this list, but there’s a good reason why this teenage girl is one of the most overpowered anime characters ever. And that’s because Usagi became a godlike figure.
Usagi Tsukino’s ultimate form allows her to control time and space and even bend reality itself. This means that she is a god in almost every aspect, as she can do things that not even Goku or Vegeta can do. She may not have the same muscles and raw strength that the other characters on this list have, but the fact that she has godlike powers makes her more than capable of destroying any opponent other than the top two characters on this list.
2. Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
Like some of the characters on this list, Haruhi Suzumiya isn’t from a shonen anime that includes combat and other fighting modes. In fact, ‘The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’ isn’t even remotely close to any anime from the shonen genre. Nevertheless, Haruhi is an overpowered character with abilities that no one else has.
The fact is that Haruhi Suzumiya is actually god herself, and that means that she is an omnipotent being. She is a divine entity well beyond the reach of any other character on this list (except for the one on top). That means that she can create and destroy anything at will. And that’s why the entire anime storyline is about keeping her entertained so that she would never have to suffer from sheer boredom ever again.
1. Zeno (Dragon Ball Super)
Zeno is the supreme god of the multiverse that we were introduced to in ‘Dragon Ball Super.’ While each universe has a God of Destruction and an angel attending them, there is only one Zeno in the entire multiverse. Of course, Goku found another Zeno in an alternate timeline, bringing him back to his timeline so that the original Zeno would have a playmate. But that’s another story.
The power of Zeno is so immense that he can erase entire realities at will. He can even snap these realities back into existence if he wants to. That is how powerful he is, as there is nothing beyond the reach of Zeno’s abilities. However, He has a few weaknesses, as he isn’t known for being a fighter and has a childlike demeanor.
